Wednesday: Feelin Blue?
Why hello there everybody. It's been a busy week of school for me so I haven't had as much time to write the post as I normally do so forgive me for the lack of words you'll have to read, which come to think of it, might not be a big problem for you.
Reminder, the Untouchables Blackhawks Competition is now in it's voting phase, and I gotta say, normally I don't see a lot of good Blackhawks concepts but that might be because everyone was saving their A-game for this competition. I've seen some really awesome concepts.
And besides that, there's also the usual COTW vote as well as the COTY-March vote, which, after about a year I finally got into one of the COTY-monthly votes which I have to thank those who nominated and voted! So there's that...and here's your friendly neighborhood voting reminders
COTY-March vote (ends Friday @ 11:59pm EST)
Untouchables-CHI Top 5 vote (ends Friday @ 11:59pm EST)
COTW Apr 1-7 vote (ends Friday @ 11:59pm EST)
Now onto the concepts! Only TWO of which don't feature blue in their color scheme!
Boston College (NCAA) - (Bobby P.)
Bobby gives us a set of BC Eagles jerseys based off their current throwback alternate jersey which looks very nice. I personally love the gold jersey and the maroon one looks great as well. Not a huge fan of the hem stripes stopping at the stitching on the hem, I'd continue them all the way around.
Rating: 8/10
Canisius College - (Bobby P.)
From what I could find online, it looks like this set of Canisius jerseys Bobby sent in are based off their current blue jerseys. I think this set is an automatic upgrade on their current set because the two jerseys resemble eachother and it's "uniform". Team Sweden comes to mind when looking at these jerseys so obviously they look nice. I do, however, wish there was a shoulder patch, preferably this logo.

Columbus Blue Jackets Alternate Jersey - (Avi S.)
Avi brings us a new Blue Jacket's jersey based off of the jersey we saw from Justin Cox a few weeks ago. I think the sleeve striping looks a lot better in the team's normal color scheme. The Ohio outline around the captains letter is a nice touch. It's better that it's also blue so it's a very subtle nod to the state instead of contrasting and being some goofy shaped sploch on the jersey. I think, however that the logos on the chest and shoulders could be switched and the sock striping should be applied to the hem of the jersey.

Edmonton Oilers Concept #1 - (Matt M.)
This is the first of two different Oilers Matt sends us. Between the two I believe this concept is the strongest. It's pretty close to what the team actually wears now with the exception of the space between the cuff coloring and the arm stripes, and the yoke and it's outline. I love the new shoulder patch, the jersey looks a lot better with a shoulder patch. As for the white jersey, I love it with the cuff being blue instead of white. I feel like the shoulder logo's colors could be swapped on the white jersey since it's on a blue yoke.
Rating: 8.5/10 COTW Nom from me!
Edmonton Oilers Concept #2 - (Matt M.)
This is Matt's second version of his Oilers concept. While it still looks nice, the white jersey looks odd with that amount of orange. It looks better with the blue cuffs and yoke. Not much to say since I pretty much covered it with the last concept.

Calgary Flames Concept - (Darren H.)
Darren gives us a new jersey style for the Flames and I'm a fan. I like the move to ditch black since their logo looks dumb to me in black, I pointed out on Twitter a few weeks ago that their logo should always be red or white. Which applies here I guess, the white jerseys logo should be red. I know most people don't like it but I like the piping. It's a modern touch on a classic styled jersey. I could do with out the crescent shapes by the collar. I like the trim along the bottom of the jersey as well, so add it to the cuffs as well. Also, maybe recolor the shoulder logo, it has black in it which is absent from the rest of the jersey.

St. Louis Blues Concept - (WinnipegJets96)
Jets created a new set of St. Louis jerseys and explains them on the image, so I'll leave that for you to read. Personally, I really like that white jersey.
Rating: 8/10
St. Louis Blues Concept - (Jets96)
Jets also has a second Blues concept which is utilizing the double blue color scheme. I prefer his other concept to this one honestly and I think it's because I don't care how the two blues are balanced. It just feels like on the dark jersey there's too much of the light blue. I feel like both jerseys would be a lot better if they didn't have the shoulder yokes. The number on the white jersey doesn't look properly centered.

Avi for COTW. I love the use of the concept logo in the arm stripes.
Darren H.'s Flames for COTW
Second avi for COTW!!
I'll second the COTW nomination of Matt.M's Oilers concept (top one). I really like the shoulder patch logo used in his concept. The overall look would be a great improvement over what the Oilers currently wear. I like Avi's CBJ concept, but the lack of stripes along the hem of the jersey makes it look a little bland to me.
The blue needs to be darker on the Canisius jerseys - and also leave the numbers one color just like the font on the front.
