Tuesday: Similar Taste

So, recent news is that the Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers will be getting new looks next season. I'm really excited for both. I think Florida's look right now is just so stale. My first worry was that they would go full on modern, but some news came out that they are trying to go classic. So, it could end up just as stale, but I think it's a safer route to make your team look good. For Toronto, I'm not worried. None of the Original 6 teams have ever disappointed me with any changes, barring when the New York Rangers has the shield logo on the front for a few years. To be honest, I've never really liked Toronto's current logo. I just thought the leaf shape was boring and the font on it was awkward. Hell, eliminating the font on it and having a blank leaf would have been better in my eyes. I'm excited for both and excited for the other offseason jersey changes that we will see.

So, there are the final four. I'm actually quite surprised my a couple of them. I think they are all good logos. It was really cool to see though how many people liked some logos over the others. Now we are in the final stretch. I have a good feeling what the final is going to be. If it turns out to be double blue vs. double blue then I think we know what kind of fetish this site has.

 Amur Kharbarovsk - Artem S.

We don't see a lot of KHL concepts on here so I'm glad we get a good dose from Artem today.  He takes the great logo of Amur Kharbarovsk and gives them a new jersey site. I always thought KHL had very insane jersey designs like you see in European teams. Looking at them now though it looks like they went very professional in the looks for the teams. To me, it's stuff to really comment on this one. It's a Reebok cookie cutter template we've seen on other teams. I really like the blue and orange scheme though. I think the design fits the team too, so there is a conflict going on. I think the font you used is also really nice, and goes great with the hole set. I think it could use a more original design but I think this one doesn't look too bad with the branding.

Amur Kharbarovsk Alternate - Artem S.

 Artem makes an alternate for the set. It's basically the same style which I rarely agree with. I think this doesn't really add to the set and doesn't work as well. I think the orange jersey looks just looks much more intense and fits the Tiger persona..I guess. I would just like to see something more from the alternate.

Atlant Mytishchi - Artem S.

Artem takes another stab today with Atlant Mytishchi. If I tried to pronounce the team name I would butcher it so hard, so thankfully I'm just typing. The design is very Buffalo Sabres-esque which I immediately like. The away jersey I think could use a nice yoke design, I think it's a bit empty. My one problem I could say I have with the design is that it simply doesn't fit the branding to me. I think the logos have a very sleek and modern look while the jerseys take a step back. I think the design is nice, but doesn't fit.

Atlant Mytishchi Alternate - Artem S.

The alternate with the gold ...I love. I know like I said on the last concepts, I don't think it totally fits the branding but I think the jersey as a whole is great. If you used the alternate shoulder logo on the front and took away the 3D effect on the logo It would fit great. If those changes are made I really would love to see these in use.

Chicago White Sox - Glen W.

I don't mind seeing baseball concepts. The problem I have here is that it is a full paint bucket tool concept. I also don't see any correlation with the baseball teams brand either which is a bummer. I would have loved to see an awesome traditional styled jersey. I think mimicking their baseball uniforms would have looked awesome. I think this needs more time in the works before it was submitted.

Chicago White Sox Throwback - Glen W.

I really think the same thing goes for this jersey. However, I believe this does fit their throwback a little more and doesn't look as bad in my eyes. I would do without the piping on the sleeves. A more fitting font could make this bearable I believe. At the same time I would love to see more thought and time into the concept though rather than just filling the empty spaces in with color. That being said, this does look much better than the other.

Team USA - Jay S.

Jay makes a Team USA 1996 Redesign. I believe that was the year they had the flag design on them. This design does a really good job of making the stars subtle to make a difference in design but not make it so obvious and almost too gimmicky. The off white is actually pretty cool but I think having a pure white would make everything stand out even better. I think the white would say "AMERICA" much better. The design and execution nicely done.

Czech Republic - Josiah B.

Josiah also takes a stab at other National teams. This one the Czech team. The design is simple, and clear to the point. It's a jersey that would look iconic on the ice, especially the white jersey. Not the right template to use for Nike but I will let that slide just because I think the jerseys are done well. No real complaints, only some execution notes, the inside of the jersey under the hem on the front should be the color of the hem stripe behind it.

Slovakia - Josiah B.

Josiah also takes a shot at the rival, Slovakia. This one, again, is beautifully done with the Red, white, and blue. I think both jerseys are flawless design wise. Perhaps this one could have had some sort of shoulder logo because it gets a bit plain at the top but that is a small complaint because the rest of the jersey. I'm wondering if the jerseys are too similar though for rivals, or if it's meant to be that way. On their own they are great but I'd hate to see my rival wearing a similar look.
