Saturday: Where Are The Pairs?
The winner of the COTW vote for January 27 - February 2 was Jay S!
I'm really loving that the first five COTW votes of 2017 were won by five different artists! Congrats to Jay and his winning Vegas Golden Knights concept.
All of the January weekly votes are complete and this allows us to move onto the COTW-January vote. The entrants are listed in the red poll on the side of the page. Votes will be counted up until noon Eastern time on Friday.
We have five concepts in the COTW vote for February 3-9. They are listed on the side of the page in the black poll. Votes for this will also be counted up until noon on Friday.
To take part in the voting here on HJC you need to be logged into a Google account. There are many different types of Google accounts that you can have, so it's not too difficult. Once you are logged into that account and you visit HJC, the polls should appear and you should be able to vote in the many votes that are always ongoing here.
The winner of the Bring Back The Eagles Competition was Brooks F!
It was a close one, but Brooks concept came away with the win. The logo is my favourite feature of this concept. It's a solid logo that uses a wordmark, which is something I'm not typically a fan of. I also think the logo suits an AHL team perfectly. Speaking of which, Brooks has done a great job on his entry of communicating that this is an AHL team and they are the farm club of the St. Louis Blues. He did this with three logos that didn't take up too much of his image and he didn't use any words.
As you have seen, Brooks moves into the COTW vote with this win.
The 2017 Pairs Competition officially began yesterday. This year teams of two will create an All-Star Game from the ground up. As of last night four teams had let me know that they were entering.
If you plan on entering, please let me know via email (with your division) so I can start forming a presentation schedule. Letting me know you have a team does not obligate you to enter something, it just allows me to plan. Likewise, if you don't have a teammate yet and you find one in a couple of weeks and you don't let me know, this does not exclude you from entering.
On Monday, Jets96 posted a picture of the Quad City Mallards playing in their throwback jerseys for their 20th anniversary season. I was actually contacted by the team to create this jersey a couple of years ago. However, I misunderstood their request as they literally wanted me to draw an exact copy of their original jersey. I thought they wanted some new ideas with incorporating their original logo.
Looking back on these I can understand why they didn't go with them.
