Saturday: C'Mon Leafs, You're Killing Me!
The winner of the final COTW vote for March (and the 1st Quarter) was Brooks' 90's Hurricanes concept!
I loved this concept from the moment I saw it. It's really well thought out and could have very easily been something we saw in the 90's. The drastic and aggressive striping pattern combined with the font choice for the numbers make this a fantastic concept. I was the tie-breaking vote, so congrats Brooks!
It began last night, but on the right side of the page you can see the COTW-March entrants listed in the red poll. Of course you have to be logged into a Google account to see the poll, but when you are you will have until Friday at noon Eastern to cast your vote. The winner of the vote will move into the 1st Quarter Vote that will begin next week. Wow, really?
We also have new COTW nominees for the week of March 31 - April 6. Same as above, the black poll will appear to those logged into a Google account. Votes will be counted up until Friday at noon Eastern. Good luck to all...including myself.

If you have ever wanted to be a writer for HJC, then your chance is coming. One of our writers will be leaving the team and that will open up a spot. Our current team may want to shuffle around days, so after we do that we will know what day we will need the new writer for. I will provide some concepts and you will write a mock post and submit it. Look for a banner to show up on the blog in the coming days.
The Leafs just need ONE win. That's all. They lost to Washington with chance #1, which should be expected. Then they lost the one they should have won against an injury riddled Tampa Bay team. That leaves them with two chances this weekend. Just win one! Pittsburgh on Saturday and Columbus on Sunday. I don't care who is or isn't playing for the Pens and Jackets, the Leafs just need to score more goals than the other team. And it's also not the end of the world if Washington sweeps them out in 4 straight. It's just about this young group making the playoffs and getting that experience plus at least 4 games of playoff experience. It's all building to something 1-5 years away.
Speaking of the playoffs, every year HJC holds a just-for-fun pool. Look for that pool to go live sometime on Monday. You will have until the puck drops on Wednesday for the first game to get your picks in. Keep your eye on HJC as each round concludes, because you will need to get your picks in for the following round very quickly. It will all be explained on Monday.
Also, continuing with the Leafs. I have come to terms with their sweaters. I still don't like the varying widths of their stripes, but I love the logo and the uniform all together is okay. This means that I want to get a jersey.
Here's my plan.. I am going to wait.
Will the Leafs' jersey be ruined by Adidas stripes? If yes, then I will get a Reebok version, but I will try to find one on clearance. If you look around you should be able to find some retailers who will put their Reebok stock on clearance to make room for the new sweaters.
If the jersey does not have Adidas stripes, I will have to see the Fanatics version. Fanatics will be doing the replica jerseys and will not feature Adidas logos at all. I also have a hunch that jersey prices will go up yet again, while quality will go down. So my other option is to purchase an authentic jersey. However if Adidas' authentic sweaters are anything like Reebok's "Made in Indonesia" authentics then that's a hard pass for me. I'll go back to my plan of purchasing a Reebok sweater on clearance.

@Ryan, are you for sure going to get the blue jersey? If so why because I was in a similar position to you but after watching the Centennial Classic I change my mind
