Weekend Update (Jan 20)
The 2012 Concept of the Year semi-finals are set! It's 1st Quarter winner versus 3rd Quarter winner and 2nd Quarter winner versus 4th Quarter winner. That banner is on the side of the page and you can see the concepts by clicking on it. Or just go to the COTY 2012 tab to see the concepts as well. Voting can be done by anyone and it ends on Friday.
The COTW winner for January 7-13 is Bastian. So far Bastian has won both COTW votes for 2013 and is going for his 3rd straight this week!
As you can see from the COTY 2012 semi-finals, the winner of the 4th Quarter Vote is Justin C.
The winner of the Binghamton Senators Specialty Jersey Competition is me, Ryan.
Here are the full voting results. If your name does not appear on the list then you did not receive any votes. Which is a shame because everyone was allowed to vote, so you could have given yourself at least a 2nd place vote.
The nominees for the COTW Jan 14-20 vote have been listed. Click the banner on the side of the page or go to the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK tab to see those concepts that were nominated.
This week I conducted a poll on the HJC Facebook page to determine the next HJC Competition. The winner, by a 14-2 score was the AHL Outdoor Classic Competition. That will start immediately. You can see all of the rules by clicking the banner at the top of the page.
I am wondering what competitions you guys are interested in. The basic team ReDesigns do get quite popular, but on occasion there are some concept artists here who like to get a bit creative and challenge themselves. Here is a list of possible competitions that I have been keeping for a while. Be sure to add your own in the comments if you have any ideas.
This past week the Toronto Maple Leafs held a few open practices as a part of their training camp. Two of those were at their practice facility and fans were able to get up close to the players. Here's a link to some of the photos I took on Day 1. On Day 2 I spent more time getting the hats signed.
That does it for this Weekend Update. Before I go I must supply you with the voting reminders;

What about a CBJ redesign?
I'm 100% for an untouchables redesign! Gives everybody a chance to be really creative, and we will see a lot of interesting concepts.
Hey Ryan, I love the idea of a COTW comp... but think you might be able to push it a bit further. Why not have every contest winner advance to the COTW vote for the month? To win a contest is difficult, and often because a design wins a comp, people are less likely to re-enter it into regular circulation, and people are less likely to nominate it/vote for it for COTW because it has already won a comp. Contest winning concepts are always high quality, but often get overlooked for COTW/M/Y. Just a thought. would love to hear what you think about it!
I agree with Colin, that seems like a good idea to me.
Good idea Colin. I used to do that, but it really spread out the votes and usually caused ties. Now that everyone can vote I will seriously consider adding them again.
Second place in the comp! Also, I like the idea of the untouchables redesign, that would be really fun.
