Friday: Soccer and Future Outdoors
New month, same message, TGIF!
I'm writing this post a little earlier than usual, so if any jersey reviling news comes, I may not talk about it. However, aside from the Blues, another team got new digs, improving on their previous look....maybe.
As a staple of the ECHL, the Cyclones have has the same logo for almost 14 years, and only now is the tornado with a hockey stick being changed! To what you may ask? Something I mistook for a Carolina Hurricanes update.

The logo is a vast improvement. Though some may mistake iy for a shoulder patch, it certainly doesn't look minor league anymore. The jerseys on the other hand are a different story. I honestly have no idea how to feel about them. The hem is very unique and I really like the warning stripes and curve on the left side. the yoke shape is unique, however, the arms don't have any white or silver. The jerseys aren't the best, but they do give us two things. A new style, and more notice that CCM is taking over.
Moving out of the minors...
Voting, obviously, is important! Don't forget to do so. I know for a FACT that Caz will specially pick GIFs for you to shame you for not voting! Why do you make Caz do that? If you vote, you get a pick me up GIF, and that's something everyone should get.
The DEL RE-design Contest is in full throttle, the entry phase ending TONIGHT!
Here's some more entries that have come in!
Scott B.
On to the regular scheduled concepts!
This kit set on the other hand, shows how diverse two kits can be, but still unified to one team. Both kits are from completely separate eras of Kings' history, and both kits resemble the jerseys they're based on, and even other jerseys. I wonder which jersey the gradient sash is from? Not much else to say, just a solid concept, well executed and another great entry into the series. (9/10)
Anaheim Ducks Concepts (By: Mario A.)
This would be a relatively straight forward concept, putting the Mighty Ducks in the Ducks current set, but Mario balances the colours better than most, and with some work, this could be a top notch concept. I really appreciate how the Eggplant is the main striping colour on the white jersey, this is how colour balancing should work (cough, cough, Anaheim). The execution needs some work. The monochromatic numbers don't look as good as the current 3 tone. The primary logo is too small and a shoulder patch would seal the deal. Overall though, Mario is rising through the ranks, and I'd say he's near a breakthrough! (6.5/10)
Minnesota Wild Crossover Concepts (By: Matt Mc.)
Finally, we reach the Wild, or Minnesota Wild FC/SC if you prefer, and I think this is based on Minnesota's original NASL franchise, the Strikers. The vertical stripes have a 70's vibe to them, while the rest of the jersey is a direct crossover from the Wild's current set. The only issues I have with this concept are preferential, and the same problems I have with Minnesota's current set. The jerseys do match, but not enough. The red jerry would looks better with more red than green and using white over beige. I get this isn't really supposed to be a set, soccer kits don't usually completely match, but they are quite close that it would make sense to do so. (8/10)
Heritage Classic 2017 Concept (By: Ryan HJC.)
A Maple Leafs Vs. Habs outdoor game is bound to happen, now that both have actually played outdoors, and for the 100th anniversary of both the Maple Leafs and the NHL,why not have the two most historic rivals duke it out. Both jerseys are a combination of eras, and if I had to say, the Leafs are from the 50's while the Habs could be anything! Execution is perfect, but again, preferences will dictate. The Leafs jersey is original and I love it, but the Habs jersey is, just what they normally wear but with old numbers. Something more original would be expected, but hey, if it aein't broke, don't fix it. (9/10)
Quebec Nordiques Concept (By: Christian L.)
What's funny about this concept, is that it's an update of one of Christian's first logo concepts back around November, and it was featured on Bardown. Nice job! I'm all for the Nordiques using their original logo, but if they had to update, which they should, it's best they do it right! Snowy Owls scream Quebec, and I like the citadel shaped outline around the owl, good local touch! The logo has too much light blue and not enough white or silver. (8.75/10)
That's the post! Remember to vote, nominate, and get your DEL contest entries in. There aren't many in so far, so I'm sure everyone is waiting until the deadline. Enjoy your weekend!

Florida Panthers Crossover Concepts (By: Matt Mc.)
Funny enough, this is the closes to the actual jersey in Matt's series, and it's the team I would least expect. The blue kit is IDENTICAL to the Panthers old home jersey, and it looks fantastic, and would work for soccer as little as it does for hockey, which is a lot. The clash kit is more of a classic Panthers crossover, including the angled yokes. The chest stripe and white/red look more like a Champions League team, but I would have gone with two stripes, gold and white, on both sides and have the bottom of the jersey red, but as is, it doesn't look bad. Matt's execution is fantastic as usual. (8.5/10)
2015 Stadium Series Concept (By: TG)
So far, SoCal and New York have seen futuristic outdoor games, but why not some love for some Eastern rivals. The Boston jersey reminds me of the pre-edge Bruins look (PJ Axelson?) and is a good twist on the Stadium Series template, while keeping the angled arms. Ottawa is more straight forward, using the updated side profile Senator, and doesn't scream unique, but it looks much cleaner than one may expect rom the Sens. (8.25/10)
