Tuesday: Some Recent Love

So the question that was asked this week by our blog god was what do you think the best looking Stanley Cup Final was. My answer will be a very recent final. We go all the way back to the year 2013. The Blackhawks facing off against the Bruins. I've been watching hockey religiously since 2004 (I was 9) and that year was the first time I watched a Stanley Cup game. Since then, my favorite matchup has been this one. No matter who was home and away I thought the colors were great to see on TV. My favorite though would be whenever Chicago was home.

That's beautiful. Do you agree, Dylan A?

Ohio St Buckeyes Concept - Ben S.
Ben gives my favorite college football team a new hockey look. It's weird seeing the schools logo on the front as I rarely see it ever when the football team plays. I like the players last name on these jerseys. They must be a freshman because I've never heard of them. Anyways, I'm pretty sure the Alternate is the Brutus shirt (their mascot) and I think that's pretty cool. Wouldn't even mind a football jersey like that. Home and away are pretty basic. I think the striping could match the 'O' a little better, it seems a little inconsistent from the yokes too.

Rating: 7.5/10

Atlanta Hawks Concept - Jan S.
My problem with this concept is that there is no consistency. As separate jerseys I like the blue one a lot. I think the striping could be more consistent but for the most part it's a nice concept. The white jersey on the other hand is pretty bare and doesn't really add to the concept from the blue. Looks like two completely different teams. The red stripe on the arms could be more visible. The numbers look too spread out and again, just empty. I would work on this a bit more, even the logo could be changed to the roundel.

Rating: 7.8/10

Columbus Blue Jackets Concept - Lucas D.
This jersey set reminds me a lot of the Rangers. Which is good in a way, it looks nice. Being in the same league though, not very good. They look nice, clean and classic. I would do away with the phantom yoke stripe, doesn't really add anything here. Also I would make the number on the back bigger. I like though that you kept the stars on the blue, but execution wise, you forgot to color them on the back of the white jersey.

Rating: 8/10

Chicago Cougars Concept - Taylor R.
Taylors entry to the Cougars competition is a very nice design. Classic design with some modern influences. Especially a shoulder logo on the sleeve-ish part ...of the sleeve. Which...I'll say, I don't mind at all. The striping is nice and looks nice on the yoke. As for the logos. I think the primary is fine but the secondary kind of looks less intimidating, looks furry and like a kitty cat. I would say rework it to look slimmer and more aggressive. All in all though it is a good design.

Rating: 8.3/10
