Tuesday: Into the Swing of Things

Hi Everybody. I hope everybody is having a good Tuesday afternoon. I'm currently stuck in class, but it's a fun class so I'm okay with it.

We currently have the All Star game redesign competition going on right now and so far I like what I see from everybody so keep up the good work, so keep up the good work people. We want you to succeed where the NHL has failed us.

Before we get to the concepts I would like to remind everybody to look at the right side of the screen, sign into google, and vote. It takes all of two minutes and it's a nice way to support your local concept designers.

Now let's get to the Concepts!

Ryan Christensen- Colorado Eagles
Positives: Very clean concept and well executed. You did a good job with the number layout on the jerseys. The custom logo is a really nice touch. The large shoulder yoke give the jersey a whole new look as compared to a normal shoulder yoke.
Negatives:  The big yoke that extends all the way to the sleeve stripes looks like it's resting above the uniform and under the collar, not as a part of the uniform itself. Also, you have open spots in the corners of the sleeves where the gussets usually are. if you are going to put an outline on your concept please make sure that it is surrounding the whole piece.
Overall: 8/10

Phil Beck- Long Island Jaws (RHI)
Positives: Definitely has that 90's feel to it, with the unique stripping and coloring. That being said, on the basis of the jersey everything looks correct (TV numbers, crest, etc.). The three stripes on the uniform is really interesting.
Negatives: The concept overall is a little rough. The bigger problem is with the numbers on the blue jersey. Since you have the back numbers outlined in black, it makes the orange look darker than the sleeve numbers with the white outline.
Overall: 7.5/10

 Brad Fox- Nipawin Hawks (SJHL)
Positives: The more modern style striping is an interesting look. The number on the front of the jersey is a nice touch to a ultra-modern jersey.
Negatives:  To start, you didn't bring the Bauer ID from the yellow to the white jersey. To add on to that, I would think that Bauer puts there name above the jersey crest and below the collar usually. Also, the name on the back of the jersey is a little too high. And finally, the design itself is just rough.
Overall: 6/10

 Glen Wilson- My Cat Uno
Positives: That's a nice picture of your cat and the classic striping looks good.
Negatives: To start, your TV numbers are too wide. the "Bauhaus 93" font does not suit this jersey at all. And that cat picture leaves me wondering if you could have gone a step further and made a logo of your cat instead of putting the picture up there.
Overall: 4/10

Anthony Smith- Pelicans
Positives: I respect the hand drawn pelican on the concept.
Negatives: There are no TV numbers. The Back numbers on the jersey are extremely sloppy and borderline illegible. You did not put any type of ID on the page and this just looks unfinished.
Overall: 4/10

Jay Schreyer- Memphis Grizzlies (NBA)
Positives: Well executed and very clean design. The design is very traditional and simple, but at the same time it works perfectly for these colors and logos.
Negatives: My only gripe with it is that you put a yellow outline around the jersey crest instead of leaving it blank or white outlined.
Overall: 7/10

Alan Su- Florida Panthers
Positives: Guessing that this is based off of the giant leak in the description of the new panthers logo and uniforms, this is a nice concept. Based off of what was leaked, this is a nice representation of what it could be.
Negatives: your TV numbers could use some fixing. They should be equally divided. Also, I think that body stripe would look better if it was a bit more level to the sleeve stripes.
Overall: 7.5/10
