Tuesday: The JETS96 Show!!!

Happy Tuesday Everyone! I hope everyone is starting to get in the holiday spirit! I know I am. The post is late today because I ran to the local mall to do my Secret Santa shopping for my hockey team. I went at about 1:30 in the afternoon thinking that'd be a great time since kids are in school and the mall should be dead........... nope.... it was a terrible experience and was there for hours against my will.

Other than that, no real jersey news that I know of. Personally I'm a little disappointed because the Rockford Icehogs wear a specialty jersey every year to be auctioned off for charity and they always do a nice job, but I think the "Los Icehogs" jerseys that they wore a few weeks back was their choice for that auction this year, which is saddening because....well... those jerseys were bad. But it's minor league hockey, and there's been worse jerseys so... yeah, anyway, A LOT of contest entries for today plus a few regular concepts, including THREE from our very own Jets96!

And now onto the regular concepts

Ottawa Senators Concept (Chris S.)

What I Like: I idea of the concept. It's a very simple and basic jersey concept with a unique twist. It's nice to see someone try this idea with out making it very cluttered. 

What I Dislike: The execution. Obviously done on Paint. The striping is very uneven.

Suggestions: Add Gold as a trim color as to give the team a unique color scheme and to keep a little balance between the jersey colors and logo colors. Also, use a new program. There's a few free online programs that would be pretty easy to learn or even something for free like Gimp. Use a template from the TEMPLATES page and read the tutorials to make this concept look a bit more professional. Keep it up! I like where this is headed.

Detroit Red Wings Concept (Jordan R.)

What I Like: The description of the concept, I like when people describe what they've done and why. It's nice to see inside some artists heads. Keeping the red arms on the white jersey. I hate the Wings but I think their white jersey is one of the best in the league. The logo.

What I Dislike: The inconsistency between the arm and hem stripes with the chest stripe.

Suggestions: Either add two small stripes to the arms and hem or get rid of the two small stripes on the chest. I like the idea of one of these as a current third jersey. If that was the case, a shoulder patch of the current logo would be nice, but not necessary.

Golden State Warriors Hockey Concept (Mike S.)

What I Like: The striping seems to be taking inspiration from the bridge in the logo. The addition of the NBA logo on the collar insert.

What I Dislike: The hem stripe. Lack of TV numbers. 

Suggestions: It's hard to make a concept based on a basketball jersey since they are so boring and I think this is a nice job. I'd ditch the hem stripe and add TV numbers. An actual name on the back would be nice, but oh well. Also, make the logo a little bigger. One more thing.... THIS LOGO or THIS LOGO would look nice as a shoulder patch.

Colorado Avalanche Concept (Snow Monster)

What I Like: The simplified striping. I miss the mountain look you had before, but this still looks nice. 

What I Dislike: No logo. I love the Avs' logo. If you must have the wordmark, add the A as a shoulder patch. The color of the "COLORADO" and the TV numbers don't match. The yoke on the dark jersey.

Suggestions: One thing that I think would look very cool, is if you tried to make a gradation of dark to light on the arms using the stripes. I did it on a Panthers third jersey a while back and loved the look I've been trying to find a way to use it with other teams to find a better match. So far, no luck. Maybe on the white jersey here.

Mississauga Steelheads Concept (Jets96)

What I Like: The set doesn't copy the Maple Leafs.

What I Dislike: Lack of tv numbers, but does the CHL need those? I don't know the rule on that. I'm very iffy on the white yoke on the dark jersey.

Suggestions: Find a way to center the chest logo. I don't know what program you're using, and I know what you're going for, it just looks odd and would look more professional. Even if you had to cut off part of the logo, it would still look fine.  The OHL logo should be a contrasting team color on each jersey.

Niagra Icedogs Concept (Jets 96)

What I Like: Classy look. Little "Devil"-ish but that's ok.

What I Dislike: Gray pants.......it's unique, I'll give you that. It just looks silly. Especially with the lack of gray in the jersey itself. 

Suggestions: I know the dog has gray pants, but he's a dog and is color blind. Maybe give him black pants so the player can wear those. Either way, Black or bust. The OHL logo should be a contrasting team color on each jersey.

Ottawa 67's Concept (Jets96)

What I Like: I actually really like their barber pole arms that they use, but you're using a template that I actually really like. I don't care what people say, I like it. I also like the white stripes on the black jersey so the striping between the jerseys is exactly the same.

What I Dislike: Nothing, I really like this set, and think it may be the best in your series.

Suggestions:  ONLY thing I would change is try adding the striping pattern to the side of the pants. The OHL logo should be a contrasting team color on each jersey.
