Saturday: And then there were four!
Happy Saturday, everyone! Just think, one week ago I was so upset about the Blackhawks being down to the Red Wings and now things have turned around so much. As Ice Cube once said, it was a good day. Bring on the Kings. Also, don't forget that if you haven't submitted your playoff pool picks for the conference finals, the deadline is tonight at 11:59 Eastern Time.

Vancouver Canucks (by Brandon)
Brandon's Canucks concept abandons their currently conservative identity in favor of something slightly less conservative and reminiscent of several different Whalers' eras. I really like the use of silver as more than just a logo color here since it complements the blue and green really well and I especially like that the wordmark has been removed from the front of the jersey. That's a step that the Canucks absolutely must take. It would improve their current jerseys tenfold. My only critique is the lack of a pants stripe. Even a single white stripe would work. Overall, I'll give it an 8/10.
New York Skyscrapers Timeline (by CPM)
CPM's fantasy hockey work has been absolutely delightful. The amount of work he's put in to really solidify his teams' identities is great and I love that he has that attention to detail. I like all of these different versions of the jerseys. You can tell that there is a common theme among all of them running through the decades but the influence that the jerseys of the various decades had is quite present. I like the clear progression. Extra points for not including a helmet in the first image - hooray for historical accuracy! Overall, I'll give it a 9/10.
Boston Bruins (by Dylan)
God save our gracious Queen! Long live our noble Queen! God save the... ahem. Excuse me. I got a bit distracted by the Union Jack-esque pattern on these jerseys. Dylan's entry into the Bruins Untouchables contest is a very unusual design that has never been seen in pro hockey before, but it's really not that bad of a design. It does make sense, though, since the cross design is just the spokes from the Bruins' standard logo extended outward. That's a really nice touch. I don't like the fact that the striping doesn't extend to the back. Obviously you wouldn't be able to put the whole pattern on the back but I would have extended the horizontal bar onto the back, a la the Canadiens. Overall, I'll give it an 8/10.
Portland Pirates (by Jets96)
And so we close today with three AHL concepts from Jets96. First off, we have the Portland Pirates, affiliate of the future Quebec Nordiques, aka the Phoenix Coyotes. My previously-expressed dislike for this Edge template aside, I like the general idea behind this concept. It's a relatively simple striping pattern and as I've (also) said before, black and red is a great color scheme that you can rarely go wrong with. I'm not sure if I like having different logos on the home and road, though. I think the script logo would work better on an alternate. Also, the lack of hem stripes hurts the design. Overall, I'll give it a 7.5/10.
Providence Bruins (by Jets96)
Jets continues with the Providence Bruins, one of only six AHL teams that shares a nickname with their parent club. That number, of course, will become seven when the Aeros move to Des Moines. Anyway, my previous comments about the template apply here, but I like this one slightly better because the striping pattern looks better. Also, the matching hem stripes are an improvement as well. They're reminiscent of a Bruins look that I've always liked and that's a plus. That being said, I definitely don't like the colored underarm panels, and the pixelation on the logo is really noticeable. Overall, I'll give it an 8/10.
Rockford IceHogs (by Jets96)
And today's final concept comes from the good city of Rockford, home of the Blackhawks' farm team. Like some other AHL teams, the IceHogs' current jerseys are a carbon copy of their parent team's, sans logos. These, on the other hand, are not carbon copies. Are there similarities? Definitely. Has Jets done enough to make them unique? Definitely. Black, red and blue is a rare color scheme but the blue definitely works here. It doesn't look out of place. A lot of times, trying something like this just makes it look like you shoehorned it in, but here it works to distinguish them from the Hawks. The pixelation of the logo on the red jersey stands out, and I probably would have made the shoulder patch larger. On a final note, I do appreciate the use of my Bauer helmet side view template. That's always cool to see. Overall, I'll give it an 8.5/10.

I tried almost every way to make the design continue to the back, but I could never make the number stand out. I even made a box around the numbers so the spokes would end earlier, even that made the numbers seem hard to read. It was a very frustrating concept haha, but I really wanted to go outside the box for an Original 6 team!
Rockford! Hometown baby! Love my IceHogs. I just wish they'd ditch the blue in their identity. It's used no where but the logos.
