Wednesday: Cup Finals Fever

I say it every Wednesday but today is a particularly happy Wednesday for every hockey fan, especially for us Blackhawks and Bruins fans as tonight marks the start of the Stanley Cup Finals! Me and one of my roommates had each won a pair of tickets to tonight's Chicago White Sox game but the Finals are a little more important especially when our favorite team is playing in them.

And now the all important concepts!

Philadelphia Flyers (Saturday Night Classic Series) - (Jets96)

Jets brings us a Flyers jersey definitely influenced by the old Quakers uniforms and while the tribute is nice, I still think the jersey could use a little white. At the very least put the white back in the logo or otherwise go all the way and include a classic wordmark. Not a bad concept overall though.

San Jose Sharks (Saturday Night Classic Series) - (Jets96)

Jets takes the Sharks back to their Orange-less days and also uses the old logo. I like this better than their current alternate and think if you put updated logos on it you could totally have a new and improved alternate for the team. As I've stated before I really dig the team's orange but this jersey still looks great. I love the gradient effect with the stripes.

Team Austria Concept - (Bobby P.)

 Bobby continues his international series with Austria and I really like the vertical stripes on the arm. Normally I'm not a vertical fan but since the pattern isn't copied on the socks and they retain their horizontal stripes I'm a fan. The crest looks good on the front of a jersey too and I like the idea to put it in a shield on the dark jersey. Only thing I'm concerned with is the partially colored yoke on the white jersey.

Team Norway Concept - (Bobby P.)

Can't go wrong with the striping pattern. Simple. Classy. As an international team, I'm not expecting anything super unique so it gets a pass. Same as the last concept, there's nothing to complain about except that shoulder only color on the yoke.

Detroit Red Wings Winter Classic Concept - (Dylan W.)

Dylan reevaluates what the Wings should wear for their big day next year. It's the same basic idea, classic striping on a red jersey. There are some pretty substantial differences though. I do like the D in the shield but not sold on the numbers so low on the sleeves or in shields. If you wanted something on the sleeves like that I'd keep what the team actually went with and put the "A" or "C" in the little diamond. I'd like to see what the back of the jersey looks like too.

Calgary Stampeders CFL Fan Jersey - (Gerard M.)

Gerard continues his series of hockey-fying the CFL with the Stampeders. Pretty simple stuff here. I'm not super familiar with the league or it's teams but this jersey seems bland compared to some of the other ones in this series.

Edmonton Eskimos CFL Fan Jersey - (Gerard M.)

Now this is what I'm talkin' about. I love the striping on this. It definitely says hockey. I like that the special yoke is only on the white jersey as I feel it might make the dark jersey look either too busy or just weird.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats CFL Fan Jersey - (Gerard M.)

I really like that Hamilton logo. I really like the black jersey too but not the yellow jersey so much. I think I'd rather see a white jersey. I feel the thin white stripe is hard to see on the yellow jersey. But maybe the thin yellow stripe would be hard to see on a white jersey. Still, a classy set of jerseys pairs well with that logo. It'd be a shame to see a gaudy set of jerseys with a nice, modern logo.

Boston Bruins Concept - (Stephen T.)

I like the idea of the Bruins having a yellow jersey full time but I miss the black jersey. But that aside, I really like the yellow jersey, except for the black cuffs. The one thing I have to complain about though is that the white jerseys striping doesn't match the socks for that set. I could live with the yellow and white sets having different striping but mismatching parts of the same uniform bug me.

Anaheim Ducks Concept - (Steven G.)

Steven want's to "De-Edge" the league which I don't agree with. I really like the Edge jerseys but that's not the point here. I think this set would look great in an Edge template. I like that the diagonal swoop is gone from the whole hem and on the sides. It looks better overall. I also like that the whole duck foot "D" is the main crest now instead of the wordmark. I'm looking forward to more from this series.

New Jersey Devils Concept - (Tyler G.)

Tyler brings the green back to New Jersey and I'm a huge fan. I wish the Devils would bring it back full time but this would work as an alternate. The only thing I don't like is the pit stains.

Cincinnati Cyclones ECHL Concept - (Mike S.)

I'm normally not a fan of too many diagonal stripes on a jersey but seeing as the team is the "Cyclones"  and the logo has a skewed triangle it really fits in. The mostly yellow jersey is nice too even though it looks like Ronald McDonald's shirt.
