Tuesday: Congrats to J3

Hi everybody. I'm going to be quick about this today because I'm severely sick. Congrats to J3 on winning the HJC Open. It was a hard fought battle between him and Brooks but ultimately J3 won. We also have the 365 Club competition going on right now so have some fun doing that. We also have the normal voting as usual.

COTW July 22-28 vote (ends Friday @ noon Eastern)
365 Club entries (due Friday @ noon Eastern)

Concept Time!

Andrew Warren- Croatia National Hockey Team
Positives: Very clean and easy to read here. The checkered striping looks really good on both jerseys and both aren't too busy.
Negatives: While it's cool that you have those phantom logos on the edge of the yoke, I feel that having the crest logo on the edge of the yoke like that is a little much. Maybe a phantom checkered design?
Overall: 9/10

Brooks Freeman- Cape Breton Screaming Eagles
Positives: The primary jerseys remind me of an old style that the Bakersfield Condors went with a few years ago. The numbers on the primary are actually work well with the overall design and it is very unique. Also, love the vintage style alternate.
Negatives: Those wings just aren't cutting it for me Brooks. It was a good idea but it just didn't turn out the best.
Overall: 8/10

Brooks Freeman- Charlottetown Islanders
Positives: This is probably the most fitting hem for the Islanders. it's not terrible looking and it flows quite nicely down to the corner of the jersey. Also, what you did with the arms is interesting. As for the alternate, I appreciate that you kept the "ISLANDERS" diagonal text and made the jersey more simple than the primary.
Negatives: My only criticism of this is that darn sash you have on the alternate. GET RID OF IT!
Overall: 8.75/10

Jimmy Teed- Dallas Texans
Positives: For a throwback look on a modern template this works really well. the large stripes on the hem and sleeves really stand out on the "Vintage White" jersey.
Negatives: Not really a negative but I'd like to see you go a step further and make the gloves and pants a traditional leather color.
Overall: 7.5/10

Ryan Christensen- Weber State Wildcats

Positives: The Adidas collar looks awesome how you have it as two colors. The stripes on both jersey sleeves work really well and the "Weber State" text below the yoke was a nice touch.
Negatives: I'll be honest with you Ryan. This looks like a football jersey with those different colored sides and the "Weber State" text near the collar. I'm not sure if that's what you were going for but it's not working on a hockey jersey.
Overall: 8/10

Zeke Goldsmith- Nashville Predators
Positives: Awesome how you made a jersey devoid of yellow and it still looks pretty good as an overall piece. While it may bother some people, I really like that you did two different stripe styles on the sleeves and hems.
Negatives: That logo looks a little too big, as does the back numbers.
Overall: 7.75/10

Well that's all the concepts I have today. I'm at a stalemate on who won my vote for COTW so I'll post that later in the comments. Hopefully I feel better next week for you guys. This is now the time where I hand it off to Phil like the Olympic torch at the opening ceremonies in Brazil. Have a good week and I'll see you guys next week.

I'd love to see Brooks's yellow CB jersey IRL

I'd nominate it if, and only if, the wings were reversed so that the tips of the wings are away from the main body and not near the armpits.
