Friday: Dry Wells and Sandwiches
Hello folks! I'm supposed to let you all know that the concept well is running dry. This post has only three concepts, and the rest of the week we've had just two per day. That's not a lot, we could really use some more.
Although maybe it's not as bad as it seems, if you count contest entries and The Season concepts we've had 45 concepts over the last seven posts, which sounds much better. Maybe we're just spreading the concepts a bit too thin right now.
Or maybe it's worse than it seems. The 13 concepts Ryan emailed out for this week (Monday to Sunday) were made by just seven people. Sometimes we've had concepts from seven different people in a single day, and now that's all we have for the entire week.
Either way we could use more concepts from more people, so here's a challenge which I'm hoping could inspire you. My challenge is to make a concept using an interesting colour for one or more piece of equipment. You could make a Flyers concept with orange pants, a Sharks concept with teal pants, or possibly even a Senators concept with a gold helmet (to match their logo's gladiator helmet).
These are the final contest entries that came in before today's deadline at noon Eastern...

There will be two votes happening this upcoming week, the Washington Capitals ReDesign vote along with the regular COTW vote. The polls will likely go up sometime this evening.
Minnesota Wild, by Ryan C:
Today's three concepts form a Ryan sandwich, with Ryan C's Minnesota Wild concept acting as the top layer of bread. In my opinion, these would be perfect as third and fourth jerseys, but I'm against them as home and road jerseys for a couple of reasons. First, I don't like the wordmarks as primary logos (especially compared to their awesome bear-head logo), and I also think the jerseys could use more green. My suggestion would be to make the white jersey's numbers and wordmark green, and make green the main colour of the stripes on the red jersey.
Rating: 7/10
New York Rangers, by Lucas D:
Lucas provides the fillings of today's sandwich with a new set of jerseys for the Rangers. I like this striping pattern because it still feels like a Rangers jersey, but it's also different and new as well. In particular, I like the thicker middle stripe. The vintage shield also looks good on the front of the jerseys, and I love the return of the Lady Liberty third jersey. My only concern is the lack of pants, I want to know if they would the same or if they'd be updated to match the updated jerseys.
Rating: 8/10
Calgary Flames, by Ryan H:
The final piece of bread in this Ryan sandwich comes courtesy of HJC's administrator, Ryan H. I love this darkened colour scheme for the Flames, it's been a favourite of mine ever since their Heritage Classic game in 2011. The striping pattern looks nice as well, I like that the hem stripe was kept simple to allow the arm stripes to stand out. I'm also a fan of the logo because it feels realistically vintage, it reminds me a bit of the Chicago Cubs logo (it also sort of reminds me of a warning label). Lastly, the stitching in the numbers is a nice detail.
Rating: 9/10 and my COTW nomination!
That's all for today folks! By the way, this upcoming Tuesday is not only a big day for the Las Vegas NHL franchise, it's also HJC's seventh anniversary! Honestly, I don't know which event I'm more excited about.

Ryan H for COTW. The name choice and arm stripes gives away Ryan is a Leafs fan, still like the muted colours and simple design
I want to third Ryan's concept
Ryan's concept is a fantastic minimalist design with an intriguing logo concept. I would like to see her with a touch of white. The logo idea is cool. Try angling it...
