Sunday: Aren't the Playoffs Great?

Afternoon everyone. Welcome back. I'm in a pretty good mood today being that the Penguins gave the Capitals a shellacking on their own ice. I'm not one to get all emotional about sports but after how the Penguins took both of the Caps' home games and scoring on them like a pee wee team last night I think all the penguin fans felt like this video.Yes the series is not over but the Capitals better get it together when they come to Pittsburgh or they'll be working hard for a win.

Ok so now that I have that out of the way, I'd like to say to Steve G that is was a pleasure writing with you on this blog and I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. At the same time, I'd like to welcome TC as the new writer to the group and I look forward to seeing his writing style.

Third, I'd like to say to all the teams that you should be proud of yourselves regardless of how your teams record turned out. Keep your heads up and best of luck to all of you in the next season. To review all the teams I've written about, I'll post all their jerseys at the bottom of the page.

Finally, we have the random competition going on right now so get your entries in and also don't forget to vote for COTW!

COTW April 21-27 vote (ends Friday @ noon ET)
The Random Competition entries (due Friday @ noon ET)

Onto the Concepts!

Anthony C- Team Sweden
Positives: Sticking with the simplicity of what Sweden is known for was a good choice and the crowns look good as the Adidas crowns. Also, the three stripes (no pun there) on the sleeves and hem look much better than what Adidas came up with.
Negatives: It would be nice to see a back of this jersey. Also, this template is "stale" so I would consider playing around with other templates.
Overall: 7.5/10

Chris W- Rice Owls
Positives: Chris I'm always impressed with your level of detail on the jerseys you do so good job there. As for Rice itself; it doesn't have a club hockey team. If they did though, I could see the team going with something like this. Overall though the traditional look with the slightly angled stripes on the arms looks good as well as the plain pants and simple stripe socks to match the hems. Your setup of the concept overall is also well thought out.
Negatives: Knowing the guys at Rebirth quite well and how they design, I can tell you that on plain pants like that they would never have the "REBIRTH SPORTS" script go vertically down the side. It would go on the back of the bottom of the pants. Second, while you have made the nameplate bigger for our sake in reality they makes it smaller for cost purposes unless it's done as a sub jersey but they does correct it on the actual jerseys.
Overall: 8.75/10

DTC- Erie Otters
Positives: I love that you are using the alt crest logo as the primary. it looks really good on both sets. Also, the striping is really nice on the sleeves. It just works overall.
Negatives: To start, the Nike logo goes in the yoke but I won't dock you for it because I like where you have it. second, if there is one thing that I think brings down a design it's poorly done watermarks. If you look at the left sleeve of the dark jersey the one watermark looks like a different color is above the white stripe.
Overall: 8/10

Jordan R- Quebec Bulldogs
Positives: Multi-stripe sleeve design: check. Vintage bulldog logo: check. Fleur De Lis incorporated: check. Overall this whole set is just beautiful and I think would really work for a throwback or heritage game.
Negatives: My only negative is that the logo looks huge on the white jersey compared to the dark.
Overall: 8.75/10

Lucas D- Dallas Stars
Positives: Good ole LD back with his mashups. I will admit though that you did a really good job this time. If anybody recalls, the USF jerseys I wrote about were a copy of the Tampa Bay design (they are in Tampa though) and they looked beautiful.  As for this design, I really like the logo and the pants with the single striping. I really looks like something that the Stars would wear if Tampa didn't.
Negatives: My only complaint is that I think you should have brought in some black and not copied the Lightning to a T but that's just me.
Overall: 9/10

Ryan C- Soo Greyhounds
Positives: Where has this jersey been and why haven't the Greyhounds picked it up? The Hounds just use a copy of the Red Wings and, while it works, it's not original like this. The stripes on the sleeves are beautiful, the chest stripe with the hound looks great, and the hem stripe pulls it all together. Great job Ryan.
Negatives: I would love to see a version with the numbers on the sleeves but this really works with the yoke numbers.
Overall: 9.5/10 COTW NOMINEE!

Ryan C- Windsor Spitfires
Positives: You and Brooks man going with the modern style striping. It's not a bad thing but it's something that can be hard to pull off. As for the design, I actually just like the pant striping and the ideal of a accent stripe being the same color as the hem.
Negatives: That rounded striping on the bottom of the sleeves with the random colors in it just looks awkward. I feel that it might be more appealing on the top. Also, Your design is so modern but the numbers just don't fit the design.
Overall: 8.25/10

Okay everbody that's all I have. As promised, I have all all the jerseys I've written about at the bottom of this post and I'm sorry if I missed any. Have a good week and I'll see you guys next week regardless if the Pens win or lose.

That helps me with your info on rebirth. I drew my template from one of theirs trying to be as accurate as possible. I didn't know about the lettering being on the back of the leg on plain ones. Thanks I appreciate it.
