Friday: COTY-May Vote Begins
The COTW vote wrapped up last night. It was quite close until around 6pm. That's when a small batch of votes came in and pushed the winner over the finish line. The winner of the May 28 - June 3 COTW vote is Justin with his Washington Capitals concept! The results of the vote can be seen below.
Justin's Caps concept now moves on to the COTY:May vote. You can see the entrants are listed on the side of the page. To see those concepts, click that banner of go to the COTY 2012 page. Committee Members may begin voting now.
I'm still taking Fredericton High School concepts that I mentioned Wednesday and yesterday. Remember, they are looking for a NEW logo and jerseys. They use the colours of the Boston Bruins.

Harvard University concepts (by Kevin)
To me, these fit Harvard's personality. Smart, classic, full of tradition, and straight forward let's get down to business. It looks like Harvard would wear these in 2012 and they were still wearing them in the 1940's. 8/10
Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins concepts (by Elias)
This is what I'd like Pittsburgh to do! However, if they aren't, then W.B. Penguins are the next best thing. Solid execution, but I'd like to see the big club's logo as shoulder patches. I also miss the red trim in the primary logo. 8/10
Tampa Bay Lightning concept (by NB14)
I get the minimalist approach here, but it doesn't seem to be working. I think a few subtle additions would help. Perhaps use the current primary logo, but colour the circle portion a very dark grey? Some small detail on the hem or arms may help as well. 5/10
Detroit Red Wings concept (by Deferoiler)
I like the D under the DETROIT script, but the big letter needs to be centred properly underneath the wordmark. I'm not a fan of the yoke piping, I think the arm stripes are just enough. If you're going to go with full-on vintage pants, I would do the same with the gloves. 6/10
Nashville Predators concept (by Caz)
Caz attempts to blend the two eras of Preds hockey on this concept for their 15th anniversary. I like the arms, but I personally would use the current hem stripes for this concept. I like the idea of the anniversary logo, but I think it might be better if it were simplified. Go with just the N and a 15, or just the tower/star and a 15. 7/10
Manchester United concepts (by Brady)
I don't know soccer that well, but Brady tells me that these are based on Man-U's 09-10 kits. You guys will have to tell him how he did in the comments. As international hockey jerseys, they look good. 7/10
Boston Bruins concepts (by Kyle C.)
A few eras are mashed up here. We have the jerseys of the 1940's, the logo of the 1950's-70's, and the current yokes. I think they all work quite well together. One of them could be a nice future Winter Classic sweater. Just make sure that the black from the logo matches the black on the jerseys next time. 8/10
Pittsburgh Penguins concept (by Brandon C.)
This looks to be based on the pre-Edge Penguins jerseys, but Brandon has added a shoulder patch. The shoulder patch is good, but I think it would be even better if Robo-Penguin was used in the circle. I'm not a fan of the collar that Brandon has chosen here. I think the standard Reebok collar would have been better. 7/10
Chicago Blackhawks concept (by Brian B.)
Brian's logo citation should probably be in quotes. The Port Huron Fighting Falcons modified a well-known Mike Ivall concept logo for their team. Anyways, Brian has made green more prevalent in the Hawks' colour scheme. Everything looks really good, except this just seems too colourful for a team steeped in tradition like the Blackhawks. 8/10
Dallas Stars concepts (by Dmitri)
On the alternate jersey I think the logo needs a thicker gold outline. On the home and road concepts, I kind of like the design, but I don't know if I like the two elements touching as they do. If the side design could be made smaller or not even go up to the arms that may be better. 7/10
Maine Black Bears concepts (by Kevin)
In my opinion, this school has the best sweaters in the NCAA. So, Kevin has done a really nice job keeping what works and not really changing too much. He's just added an outline to the wordmark and conformed the jersey to the Nike Swift standards. Kevin has done a nice job on the alternate, taking the opportunity to do something new and different for a classic team. COTW nom from me! 9/10
Worcester Sharks concepts (by Elias)
Elias wraps up his AHL re-design with the Sharks. I really like the stripes and I also really like that Elias went with a grey jersey. However, I think he misses by using a wordmark here instead of the logo. Infact, a shark doesn't appear on either jersey. Congrats Elias, on finishing the entire AHL! 7/10

Brandon C's Pens concept would be perfect if not for the shoulder patch, good job.
Bobby P. for COTW!!
Contest entries are not eligible for COTW.
The concept I like ManU! with the number 14 or 10 Chicharito Rooney it would look amazing. Good job.
Need some black in those Harvard unis.
i think it may be just me, but i really like NB14's Lightning concept, due to its simplisity idk I'd give it like an 8 but I can see why its not for everyone
COTW from me
@winnipeghets96
it's just you
Thank you to everyone who voted for me!
Kevin for COTW! I love the Black Bears and. Those jerseys look great! The only thing I would do is add the bear logo on the shoulders of the home and away.
I think i made my bolts concept a bit too simple, i wanted to make it simple so i could try out the full body template for the first time. I can also understand why it's not for everyone.
@winnipegjets96
I'm glad you liked it though and thanks for the COTW nom.
For as much as I follow the Arsenal, Manchester United never incorporated the gold into their road kits. If Brady had a yellow jersey and used a black for an alternate would work nicely. Unfortunately, the real yellow jerseys are for the goalkeepers.
