Wednesday: Really Good Day of Concepts
Happy Wednesday my friends! Hope you're all having a great August day! I'm sure you've all seen by now, but I have taken over HJC's Facebook page! I plan on posting every few days or so in order to get some jersey conversation going on over there! The more conversation the merrier!
Just like every other day, here's your wonderful color coded voting reminders.
COTW Aug 5-11 vote (ends Friday @ 11:59pm Eastern)
Warrior Competition Top 3 vote (ends Friday @ 11:59pm Eastern)
And to the concepts!
Plymouth Whalers Concept - (Alan H.)
Alan has done it folks, the end of his OHL series! Congrats to him for finishing a series, it's always great to see! Now lets get down to it. I like the color scheme. It's a good scheme, despite like the original green and blue scheme the Hartford Whalers used, whom this concept is based off of. As unoriginal it would be, this concept would be better without the "wave" lines. It just looks messy to me. It didn't look good on the Whale, and it doesn't look very good to me here either.Rating: 6/10
Seattle Totems Concept - (Bastian S.)
Bastian revives the Seattle Totems and gives them a pretty sharp jersey as well as putting them in the NHL. I like the color scheme, A lot of concepts I see for Seattle teams are green and blue, so this is pretty refreshing to see. The only thing I'm not too sure about is the name and number font. Outside of that this is a pretty good concept.

Phoenix Coyotes Concept - (Ian V.)
Ian suggests some changes for the soon to be "Arizona Coyotes", but for the time being, we'll stick with "Phoenix". The striping is very unique and would be nice to see in the NHL. The home and away are pretty good. There's little nit picky things I'd toy with like the font color and such, but that's it. As for the alternate, I don't care for the brick red upper arms. I'd rather just see a black version of the other jerseys with the jumping Coyote logo.

Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg (KHL) - (Jake88)
Jake88's back with more teams whose names I can't pronounce! I like the contrasting logo colors. I think it looks pretty good and prevents the logo from being lost. The outlines on the yoke look really good too. The striping is pretty template-y but it's not an overused template so I don't have a problem with it.

Spartak Moscow (KHL) - (Jake88)
Automatically my favorite KHL team because Dominik Hasek played for them. I'm not a huge fan of the logo but that's out of Jake's control. I like how the striping is kept simping just like in the logo. I like when striping resembles something in the main logo. The only thing I don't care for is the red hem on the white jersey. Maybe move the hem stripe up on both jerseys a little bit.Rating: 8/10
Vancouver Canucks Heritage Classic Concept - (Matt R.)
I wouldn't be surprised if the Canucks played with the Millionaires jerseys again for the Heritage Classic, those jerseys were a big hit. I would love it if they went for something like this though. That way we get green and the throwback vibe. I'm getting pretty tired of the "V" on the arm, but it works better here than on most Canucks concepts because of the "V" on the chest. At least in my opinion.

Ontario Reign Concept (ECHL) - (Mike S.)
Quite the interesting concept here. I'd be interested to see how this works on a real jersey. I think the numbers (and/or name) need some orange trim. It looks odd to me to have orange arm striping, white numbers, and then a combination of both for the hem. The only that outside of that, that might improve the concept is losing the spikes on the pants.

Colorado Avalanche Concept - (Ross T.)
Ross is back! I'm sure you're all familiar with the mash up series he's done in the past. He takes his original "Rockalanche" concept and fully transforms it into a straight up Colorado concept. It was also featured on Icethetics a couple weeks ago, so congrats on that. I like this logo a lot better than what they have now, and I have no problems with their current logo. The jerseys though, are miles ahead of what they currently wear. A much better fit, and I'm diggin' that blue! COTW Nom from me!

Dallas Stars Alternate Jersey Concept - (Tom V.)
And lastly, Tom brings us his ideal Stars Alternate jersey. Based off of the original Dallas black jerseys, this fits the theme the team originally set out to fufill. "Classic Jerseys". That being said, I was surprised the team didn't go full throwback and mimic jerseys from the team's past. The only thing that this jersey is missing is the hem stripe that was on the original jerseys. I like how the silver piping kind of flares up at the cuffs.

I'll second Ross Taylor's Avalanche concept. I really like the name/number font and striping pattern. Excellent work.
Is the CCM glove template available? Also for paint? BTW I agree about the Whaler concept it is needy but very creative 8/10.
Anon, I sent the template to Ryan, but he didn't put it on HJC. The template is on my blog (Jake88jerseyconcepts.blogspot.com) if you want it.
Yeah sorry guys. I forgot to post them. I will place them in the TEMPLATES section now.
I really like the Seattle Totems concepts. Totems is the most logical name for a potential NHL franchise in the Emerald City. However, I wouldn't use black as a secondary. Dallas already has that look. I actually like the idea of just using Kelly green and white like the original Totems.
Thanks Jake!! I'm a big fan of your concept as well I'm not a high of the shoulders but its your concept I would say 8.5/10
