Saturday: THE HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP! THE HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!
Yes, I am still a bit delirious from Game 6. Thanks for asking.
--------
Hartford Whalers (by Bobby)
Bobby's two concepts today deal with former NHL teams. The first is of the Hartford Whalers. I definitely like this one since it restores the Whalers' classic colors and really solidifies their identity. I don't like the all-white logo on the green jersey. It never looked good in real life either. I'd add some more blue to it. Overall, I'll give it an 8/10.
Quebec Nordiques (by Bobby)
Bobby's second concept is the Quebec Nordiques. Right away I can see the problem with this. While there is some red in the Nordiques' logo, adding more to their jerseys is a big no-no. Red in Quebec is the Canadiens' territory and it should stay that way. What I'd do is use the shade of blue from Quebec's flag instead. I like the design as a whole, though, especially since we'll be seeing Shane Doan in a Nordiques uniform in a few years anyway. Overall, I'll give it a 7.5/10.
Brandon Wheat Kings (by Caleb)
The second Wheat Kings concept in as many Saturdays certainly does not disappoint. It's a really simple design that can't possibly go wrong and the hem stripe design is really cool. That being said, the hem stripe is incomplete. It should match the sleeve stripes. That's really my only gripe with this one. Overall, I'll give it an 8/10.
Saskatoon Blades (by Dylan)
This one is really cool. I like the unique hem stripe. It's a good combination of classic and modern and it really fits the aesthetic of the identity. I really don't have any problems with this one besides the number font, but that's a really minor thing. I would have used a standard block font to match the name font. Overall, I'll give it an 8/10.
Vancouver Canucks (by Gerard)
Gerard continues to Edgify the NHL of the 90s with the Canucks' 95-97 alternate. There isn't really much to say about this one since it's a direct copy of the existing jersey. The 90s were not really a good era for alternate jerseys. Then again, the Canucks' whole identity back then was bad. Overall, I'll give it a 7/10.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (by Gerard)
And in an instant Gerard recovers! The Baby Penguins are displayed here with 2/3rds of an identity (minus the Vegas gold but I won't reprise my rant that I've said so many times already) the Adult Penguins should be wearing instead of their current Edge mess. As for the alt, while I'm still not sold on what is a typical 90s alt, the logo makes it look so much better than Pittsburgh's version did with the Robopen. Overall, I'll give it an 8.5/10.
Espoo Blues (by Jake)
The Blues (no, not St. Louis) in this concept look really good, but not perfect. Overall, it's a really simple design that fails in several regards. First of all, there are very few times where I like phantom yokes. This is not one of them. Secondly, I don't like the interrupted hem stripe. It just doesn't work. Thirdly, the curved sleeve stripes have to go. That said, it's still a good design overall. The color scheme is solid and the design is not a total loss. With a few adjustments it'd be much better. Overall, I'll give it a 7/10.
Rauman Lukko (by Jake)
This one suffers from some problems as well, while also being salvageable. I don't quite understand why the two separate designs were necessary. A white version of the blue jersey would look so much better than the template used for the white. That's because the blue jersey looks really good. It's simple and effective. I don't like the pants stripe though, because it's a strange design that has no connection to the jerseys. I'd change it to a standard stripe. Overall, I'll give it a 7/10.
Dallas Stars (by Matthew)
The Stars having a black alternate jersey is almost inevitable and Matthew's design looks really good. It's essentially a fauxback to the North Stars' final/Stars' original road jersey updated to the Stars' modern aesthetic. It's definitely a good design and I even like the inclusion of the italicized numbers. Would they look good on the Stars' primary jerseys? No. They do here, though. Overall, I'll give it an 8.5/10.
Los Angeles Kings (by Stephen)
Stephen's Nike Kings concept is an update of what their current jerseys look like, with some minor changes. This is what I hope the Kings would look like if they switched to Nike - though I really hope that they'd at least bring back purple as an accent color. Two minor issues: I'd make the silver darker so it stands out better and the stripe on the black sock isn't colored in. Overall, I'll give it an 8/10.
Italy National Team (by Tyler)
It's about time we start seeing some national team concepts with the Olympics just six months away. Unfortunately, the team in this concept doesn't exactly have the best Olympic record - Italy has never placed in the top five in hockey at the Olympics. The concept itself, though, is really good. It's definitely the style you'd expect from Nike's international work, and Italy's blue accompanied by il Tricolore is a solid color scheme. I'd love to see something like this on the ice. One minor issue: the socks are wrong. There is a Nike sock template available to use on the site here and using the proper design always helps. Overall, I'll give it an 8/10.
Calgary Flames (by Jets)
Jets' first concept brings back the so-called "flaming snot" logo for a Flames jersey. I, for one, actually liked what Calgary looked like in the early 2000s. The design wasn't better than their original jerseys but it was certainly better than what they wear today. That's why I have issues with this design. If you're going to bring back the old alt logo, why not also bring back the old alt design? I'm sure it could be made to work within an Edge template. Even just change the stripes to a slanted design so it's not just a carbon copy of the old design. Overall, I'll give it an 8.5/10.
Vancouver Canucks (by Jets)
Today's final concept is a mish-mash of several Canucks eras. There are elements from their inaugural jerseys and their 90s jerseys. While I much prefer what the Canucks are wearing right now, this one looks really good because it touches on the right bits of Canucks' history. No weird alts. No flying Vs. Just a simple design in a stark color scheme. I say the Canucks would look pretty good wearing this as an alternate. Overall, I'll give it an 8.5/10.

Dylan's Blades for COTW
So many good concepts on this post! I say Gerard's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for the COTW.
Wow, a lot has happened the past week I've been gone. The first Competition where you actually get the jersey you design! Damn, but I see I got nominated, then look back and I'm up against CPM's timeline. Damn. Haha, good to be back!
I'll second Dylan's Blades concept for COTW, that design works really well with their logo.
Also I had just started making a Stars concept, then I looked at this post for the first time and thought I was going crazy. Bobby's Whalers concept was almost identical to what I was creating.
I'll nom Bobby's Nordiques concept for COTW! Adding red to the jersey it's self is a great way to honor their WHA days!
