Sunday: Sad Knight

Hi everybody. Welcome back to HJC. As you folks may have heard, we're doing another Competition for a hockey team. I don't know about you guys but I'm pretty excited about it. But enough about my excitement.

Before we get to the concepts, I'd like to remind everybody that you should vote for the COTW and the First quarter vote!

1st Quarter Vote (ends Friday @ noon ET)
COTW April 6-12 vote (ends Friday @ noon ET)
St. Andrew's College entries (due April 27 @ 6pm ET)

Ok let's do this

Harry B- Vancouver Hawks
1st Line: This overall like really screams (no pun intended I swear) 70's hockey with the color choices and the logo. The simple jersey design with the hawk logo really works and it does a good job with the "keep it simple, stupid" mantra. As for the alternate, the different logo on the front is a nice change and the black base was a great idea.
2nd Line: While I think these are nice and work well, you're limiting yourself by choosing to use EA's team creator. Don't be afraid to try and do this on something like paint.net or even a vector based software.
Overall: 6.75/10

Jon R- LA Kings

1st Line: Since these two designs are similar, I'm going to combine them. Bringing back the crown on the front of the jersey is a beautiful thing. That's should never have been put in the Shield logo as an after thought. Also, your color choices are actually pretty nice. This is similar to what UNC-Wilmington uses.
2nd Line:  While you did do a good job of improving the overall template of the Kings, your logo is too large on the front of the jersey and, quite frankly, it would be nice to see something more than a recolor of the template they already use.
Overall:7/10

Justin B- Orlando Solar Bears
1st Line: Justin's season-winning design won for an obvious reason: it made the color scheme of the solar bears work perfectly. Secondly, the cured stripping is a perfect accent to the logo. Overall this does a much better job than what the Solar Bears currently do.
2nd Line: My only second line note is the sleeve numbers in the sun on the alternate. It looks good here but how will it look in real life and during play has me questioning it.
Overall: 9/10 COTW NOMINEE

Lucas D- Vegas Golden Knights
1st Line: This identity swap is actually something that just could work for the Knights, or the dark jersey at least. The chest and arm striping are nice and it's not overly complicated.
2nd Line: I do think that both of these jersey could work in real life minus two things: That three quarter style logo for the Knights and the black yoke on the dark jersey.
Overall: 8.5/10

That's all I got for you today. I hope you all have a good rest of the week and I'll see everybody here this time next week!
