Wednesday: Canucks, Jackets & Other Concepts

This is the last call for Fredericton High School concepts. Remember, they are looking for a NEW logo and jersey (probably white), and that they use the colours of the Boston Bruins. Jeff, the Athletic Director from FHS, contacted me and said that they MIGHT be able to get an extra sweater done up if someone's concept is chosen.

I'm continuing to collect links to your blogs for this weekend's post. If you have a blog you would like to share, send the link in and it will be included.

Committee Members, a couple of the votes are winding down and it's very close. If you have yet to vote, we NEED those votes. Don't allow there to be a tie and subsequent playoff votes.
COTY-May vote (ends Thursday @ 11:59pm EST)
COTW June 4-10 vote (ends Thursday @ 11:59pm EST)
Super Series top 5 vote (ends Sunday @ 11:59pm EST)

Minnesota Duluth concepts (by Kevin D.)
The home and road concepts are pretty solid. Nicely done. On that alternate, I personally would like to see the cuffs have some curves like the hem stripes and yokes do. 8/10

Columbus Blue Jackets concept (by Brandon C.)
Basic striping pattern I like. I do miss the unique Jackets' font and numbers though. The CBJ on the front in stars make this a little too "All-Star Game-ish". Maybe sublimated would have been better? 7/10

Columbus Blue Jackets concept (by Patrik)
How about a Captain America themed Blue Jackets sweater? I'd like the blue in the star logo to match that which is used on the sweater. I'd also add a white outline to the logo. 6/10

Calgary Flames concepts (by Thomas L.)
The home jersey is excellent. For the road jersey I, and I think most Flames fans, would want to see more red instead of black. 7/10

Buffalo Sabres concept (by Trey P.)
Interesting use of the unused Buffalo Bills logo. I'm not so sure about a black jersey with the blue and yellow though. Also, you want your arm stripes to go all the way to the edge of the template. 6/10

New York Rangers concept (by John H.)
The idea of the jersey is quite good. There are quite a few execution errors though. The back collar is black. The player number isn't centred. The primary crest is too small and doesn't use the same shade of blue that is on the jersey. 5/10

Pittsburgh Penguins concept (by Jay V.)
I like the sleeve stripes being stopped by the arm stripes. The pants are a good choice for this jersey. I'd like to see the logo in the same shade of black as the jersey. Same goes for the glove. 6/10

Vancouver Canucks concept (by NB14)
This is a pretty cool green jersey for the Canucks. Is this "VC" logo strong enough to be a primary though? I'm still deciding. Nice execution on the full body template, especially seeing as this is the first time NB14 has used it (I think). 8/10

Vancouver Canucks concept (by Brandon C.)
This is a good looking sweater. The collar is decent, but I would have liked a more traditional one in this instance. I'd also prefer sweaters that use one logo as a shoulder patch. Overall, good work. 8/10

Vancouver Canucks concepts (by Thomas L.)
This is an excellent set! Well executed. A small thing I would like to see is on the home collar, go with a green and white design with a blue insert instead.8/10

New Jersey Devils concepts (by Brady)
The Devils jerseys look good with green replacing the black. Not better, but good. I think white numbers on the red jersey would have been better, and red numbers on the white jersey also. Cool alternate. 8/10

Wheatley Sharks OHA Jr. C concepts (by Alan)
You can check out Wheatley's current sweaters here. The fins on the arms are okay, but I think this goes overboard with the fins on the hem. I also don't know if that piping on the upper chest has a place here. I applaud the effort to be original though. 6/10

Portland Winter Hawks concept (by Scott M.)
This one is really good. There is nothing that I don't like about it. Even the simple font chosen for the circle logo is excellent! COTW nom from me! 9/10

North Dakota Fighting Sioux concepts (by Kevin D.)
From the small amount that I do know about NCAA hockey, it looks like Kevin really didn't change too much, and that's a good thing. That black alternate looks quite sharp as well. 8/10

Scott M's Winter Hawks is a beauty! Also, is FHS just looking for 1 jersey?

Brady's NJ set for cotw

@Justin: Likely, they are only updating one sweater this year. It's up to their sponsors, who fund the jerseys.
