Wednesday: Thundersnow? More Like Fire Snow...
With the rumble of thunder in the air as the snow falls along the northeastern United States, today is just another day where Long Islanders are tired of Snow. And with varying reports of potential snowfall, I don't care how much we get so long as there will eventually be no Snow in the front office of the New York Islanders.
THE SEASON: All 6 playoff spots have been clinched, now this week will determine where they're seeded. So to the team owners of Ottawa, Minnesota, Orlando, Vancouver, Charlotte and Aurora, get a new concept ready. The others, well, it was a fun season. See if you can shake up some seeding.
REMINDERS:
ON TO THE CONCEPTS!
Noah K: Troopers (Marching Band) Concept
An overall plain design, similar but simpler than that of the California Golden Seals' final jerseys before relocating to Cleveland. I have never been a fan of wordmark logos on the front with a number underneath, even in the NCAA where it's most prevalent. The color balance of the white jersey is weird, but at the same time it avoids a yellow on white situation.

Ryan H: 2019 All-Star Game Concept
Ryan continues the series he's put together around a conceptual All-Star Game logo he designed. I like the gradient pattern on the jersey, as it parallels the logo beautifully. I hate the obnoxiousness of the Adidas stripes on the sleeves and pants, considering that it was not the case on the 2018 jerseys. Maybe a rounded font similar to that in the logo would work, since you have the division name on the upper left corner of the front of the jersey, just to keep things consistent with the branding. Patches are a bit too big.

TC Moore: Boston Pride (NWHL) Concept
I like seeing NWHL and CWHL concepts here. TC merges the two brand designs the Pride have used, with the better and newer logo on the front, combined with the claw marks of the old logo on the sleeves, hem and socks. Honestly I'm not sold on that. We've seen the claw marks used as a shoulder logo for the first two years, I think it would work better there with more traditional striping, maybe with one claw mark on said striping, similar to what the Moncton Wildcats have had for a while. A lot of empty space on the sleeves too, which is why I'm not a fan of their current jerseys.

There is NO winner of my Concept of the Week Nomination today. Just one of those days.
For those of you in the Northeast US experiencing this snowstorm, stay safe. If anyone else sees this, carry on as usual and I'll see you next week, when hopefully there's no Snow on Long Island.
