Week of April 25 - May 1, 2011
In case you missed it yesterday, the 1st Quarter COTY winner has been determined. Go to the 2011 COTY page to see the winning concept.
Last week's poll asked which Stanley Cup Final logo is your favourite. With 42% of the votes, the current logo was voted as the favourite.Good thing they've kept it for at least 3 years. Maybe it can stick around for a few more and actually gain some credibility.
In 2nd place was the original Cup Final logo with 25% of the vote. The other results were as follows; Early 2000's (15%), 2006-07 (11%), Mid 90's (5%).
This week's poll has a little fun and asks what is the greatest hockey movie of all time. Voting is on the right side of the page and runs until Sunday @ 11:59pm EST. No, that Van Damme movie that has some scenes at the Igloo doesn't count as a hockey movie!
The nominees are up for COTW April 18-24. You can see them under the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK tab. Voting is on the left side of the page and runs until Thursday @ 11:59pm EST.
Nashville Predators concept (by Andrew)We celebrate Nashville finally getting out of the 1st round with this black 3rd jersey concept. Yes, it needs some work and a little more time taken on it but, you get the idea where this is going.
Colorado Avalanche concept (by Ryan)I've grown tired of Colorado's look more than anyone else's in the NHL. The jerseys looked great before the Edge era but, that look got severely lost in the transition. I think that with a new young team coming up, it might be time to re-brand into something different.
Minnesota Wild concept (by Mason)The green sweater looks great but, I think the numbers might get lost while the players are bent over skating, essentially making them useless. I do understand however, that using numbers on the front of a jersey is an effort to differentiate yourself from other team's looks.
Dallas Stars concept (by Brian)Brian gives the Stars back their green from the Minnesota days. He's used a small baberpole design on the shoulders which looks pretty cool. Simple hem and arm striping keeps the jersey from being too busy. Logo credit is given also.
Pittsburgh Penguins concept (by Brandon)I really like this jersey. I like the design on the side and the arm stripes have a good heritage look to me. Nice use of Robo-Penguin in the 1967 circle. My only complaint would be the use of wheat instead of white. I don't see a need for it (wheat) here. I'm going to nominate this for COTW.
EDIT
HERE are the Sabres' 3rd jersey numbers for your concepts. They're probably a little big but, at least you got 'em now.

Did ne1 notice on the Dallas Stars jersey with the barber pole yokes, that the barber pole stripes r on the very end of the cuffs of the sleeves? That is a very cool look!
