Saturday: Close Call With Disaster
The winner of the COTW vote for August 23-29 was Christian L!
Despite this being Christian's 2nd COTW win in a row, this was the closest COTW vote we have had since the very convenient polls began popping up on the side of the page.
Christian will now have two concepts in the COTY-August vote. He's joined by Ryan C. and Jamie R. All of those artists are listed on the side of the page in the RED poll. If you are signed in to a Google account you should be able to vote. Voting ends on Friday at 11:59pm Eastern.
A new set of COTW nominees have been listed for the week of August 30 - September 5. Those nominees are in the black poll on the side of the page. With your Google account you have until Friday at 11:59pm Eastern to place your vote.
Lets start a new HJC competition. We'll do a standard ReDesign for this one. Lets turn the clock back 40 years and redesign the WHA's Chicago Cougars! I chose the Cougars because of their colour scheme and because they make me think of older ladies on the prowl for younger men.
Get your entries in before the deadline of Friday at 11:59pm Eastern. It's a really simple contest, but make sure you review the few rules we do have before you get started. They are on the COUGARS COMP page or just click the big banner up top.
I really like the new Islanders 3rd jersey. It fits with this whole black and white Brooklyn idea nicely. I think that unique collar is a perfect addition and I'm really glad they stuck with the "NY" logo, sans chrome.
8/10 from me!
And now for my close call with disaster...
I'll preface this story by saying anyone who reads this blog and has kids can understand that things get left around and your 3 year old son or 1 year old daughter is sure to get interested and grab at these loose items.
This was the case with my laptop cord. My laptop was sitting on the dinner table, turned on and plugged in. My daughter was heading right for this loose cord with full intentions to grab it and run. My wife sprints into action to make the save. Instead of going to pick up the baby she yanks the cord right out of the wall.
The computer goes dark (because I currently don't have a battery). When I go to turn it back on again it tells me that it didn't shutdown properly, so I attempt to refresh it. However it gets stuck in its start-up cycle. I'm freaking out because normally every weekend I back-up my HJC folders...except for last weekend. I'm now thinking that I've lost everything we've ever done for HJC.
Luckily I got the computer working again and now we have two new rules at the house.
Rule #1
Don't leave your computer on and laying around anywhere
Rule #2
My wife is no longer allowed to touch my computer
(She has yet to be informed of this rule)
Full Results

I'm glad I voted for Christian over myself. His design was much better. Would have won the competition if it were eligible.
Holy crap Ryan what exactly are you backing up? I can only imagine the HJC folder on your computer being humongous
