Friday: It's the Freakin' Weekend, Baby
30 minutes to go and it's the weekend, ladies and gents.
In the spirit of the NHL Draft, I'd like to start by thanking TC Moore for filling in for me yesterday and Ryan and all the HJC fan's for being such great hosts for today's post...
Jokes aside, we've got a good week ahead here at HJC. Keep an eye open for the Pairs Competition Teasers this weekend (we had 4 teams put a lot of thought and hard work into this one, so I'm very intrigued to see how it all shakes out). As usual we've got the COTW Vote and Jersey Nerds Podcast to take care of, so keep an eye and ear open for those as well

Anthony C.- University of North Carolina
Anthony continues his series of college looks with a trip to Chapel Hill. Colors are laid out beautifully here with the double blue (HJC Patent Pending) showing in full force on both looks. Much like the Canadiens, the NC hybrid plays beautifully off the chest stripe, although I think both jerseys would work between with the white NC from the dark look. Additionally, I'd swap the #OB and TV numbers on both sets to match that of the road's TV numbers to inject some more white in the set and build that sweet, sweet consistency with the chest logo. Collars work about as well as they can with Adidas, although the orange inner collar leaves the look lacking from an execution standpoint.
Overall Rating: 8.0/10
A good look for the Tarheels, but one that would improve from some recolored cresting
Jay FS.- Norfolk Admirals
I'd like to start by saying that Jay has been killing it with his ECHL Jersey Series and this offering is no different. The Ads red, white, and blue scheme works wonderfully here and Jay does a great job keeping red and blue from touching in each set while still maintaining a consistent pattern. Except, that is, on the road yoke which could be improved with a thin white stripe between the blue yoke and red stripe to build some more of that sweet, sweet consistency. The Alt again is beautiful with a black and red look that draws an obvious inspiration from the main logo. The alt logo used here is great as well; simple and effective, yet still remaining true to the Ads brand. The striping pattern looks great and keeps that Admirals uniqueness and the treatment of the hem and socks is beautifully done as continuing the arm pattern would've left the look too busy.
Overall Rating: 9.75/10
A beautiful red, white, and blue look just in time for Independence, with a beautiful black alt that I'm sure will keep Jets96 awake late into the night for at least the rest of the week.
Jordan R.- Holland Lions (MHL)
Jason takes us to Holland, MI for another look in his fictional MHL series. As is par for the course with Jordan, we get a unique striping pattern with a very well designed logo. The lion is positively regal in this and the Netherlands flag in the stick tape is a beautiful callback to the Holland name. I have two main complaints with this set. One being the template which is fine in its own right, but has always looked awkward to me for some unknown reason. And two being the lack of anything on the hem of the two jerseys, especially on the home where the model looks a bit too much like a child in a onesie than a athlete in a hockey jersey.
Overall Rating: 8.75/10
Solid look here for the Lions, but on such a good day for concepts, even one mistep can keep you out of COTW contention.
That's all for today folks.
Jay takes home this week's COTW NOMINATION for his NAVY CONCEPT.
We'll see you all next week!
