Sunday: From NCAA to NHL
Howdy Folks. Your normal Sunday writer here with another great HJC post. We've got a good bunch of concepts today so let's dive right in BUT before we do, don't forget to get your entries in for the Pairs Comp, vote fore COTW, and get ready for our next Jersey Nerd Podcast tomorrow!
As usual, let's get to them concepts!
Negatives: There's only two major distinctions between this and the original design: The Adidas collar and the squared off yoke. other than that it's a complete replica with the Wild logo on the front. Second, this opens up the argument as to whether the Wild have the right to wear North Star gear being that the history belongs, officially, to the Dallas Stars. Overall, I like how you want to make a North Stars jersey but make it a heritage style jersey.
Overall: 6.5/10
Negatives: That striping that goes on the hem and up to the arm pit of the jersey is just awkward. I get what you were trying to do but it's not working. Also Being how big the script is on the front of the jersey, it would really be hard to put any type of hem striping on there.
Overall: 7/10
Negatives: A few negatives I have for this. To start, the numbers just throw me off on this design. it has a real throwback fee to it but the numbers do correspond with that. Second, The numbers on the square yoke give a look of being cramped onto it. It's very hard for a team to pull off numbers with a square yoke and I don't think you did it on this.
Overall: 8/10
Negatives: My only negative is how you have the silver and white stripe next to each other on the orange jersey. They get lost next to each other and a black stripe would work just fine instead of trying to reverse it.
Overall: 8.5/10
Negatives: No real negatives for me.
Overall: 10/10 COTW NOMINEE!
Okay guys that's all I got for ya today. I hope you guys have a good rest of the week and I'll see your guys next week!

As usual, let's get to them concepts!
Burkus C- Minnesota Wild
Positives: Ah yes, the good old "slap the Stanley cup era jersey on a modern template with a recolored wild logo." It's a good recreation on the jersey and you didn't do too bad of a job recoloring the logo and the "W with star" logo is great on the shoulders.Negatives: There's only two major distinctions between this and the original design: The Adidas collar and the squared off yoke. other than that it's a complete replica with the Wild logo on the front. Second, this opens up the argument as to whether the Wild have the right to wear North Star gear being that the history belongs, officially, to the Dallas Stars. Overall, I like how you want to make a North Stars jersey but make it a heritage style jersey.
Overall: 6.5/10
Burkus C- Pittsburgh Penguins
Positives: The diagonal "PITTSBURGH" script was an excellent choice on the jersey as well as the shoulder logos and the simple half white, half light blue sleeves with the thin navy stripe really says it's a penguins style jersey prior to the major color change.Negatives: That striping that goes on the hem and up to the arm pit of the jersey is just awkward. I get what you were trying to do but it's not working. Also Being how big the script is on the front of the jersey, it would really be hard to put any type of hem striping on there.
Overall: 7/10
Ryan H- New York Islanders
Positives: Rumor has it that the simple "NY" logo is gonna be on an orange jersey for the Isles next season and, honestly, this doesn't seem to far off from something that the Islanders would probably pull. With orange making a come back as a jersey color in the NHL, the four stripe design that they had on the old Alt jersey looks pretty good on this being much closing together with the navy yoke and chicago style cuffs.Negatives: A few negatives I have for this. To start, the numbers just throw me off on this design. it has a real throwback fee to it but the numbers do correspond with that. Second, The numbers on the square yoke give a look of being cramped onto it. It's very hard for a team to pull off numbers with a square yoke and I don't think you did it on this.

Taylor R- RIT Tigers
Positives: Glad to see you finally took our wording to and put it to practice. That wording being to give your concepts more originality than looking like another templated jersey by (instert jersey manufacturer here). While it does use a template as it's base, the pattern within the half sleeve really gives it that feel of tiger striping and looks really good. Also, it was a good idea to add a black hem to the jersey to break up the design from feeling completely plain at the bottom.Negatives: My only negative is how you have the silver and white stripe next to each other on the orange jersey. They get lost next to each other and a black stripe would work just fine instead of trying to reverse it.
Overall: 8.5/10
Taylor R- Yale Bulldogs
Positives: I'm a sucker for classic, two color designs and this is pulling at that. Not only is it a good use of the two colors, but the use of the two equal stripes as a chest stripe is a great design choice as well as adding the color to the bottom of the jersey. Also, the Yoke is a nice touch to the white jersey as it gives the jersey a bit more color without overpowering the white.Negatives: No real negatives for me.
Overall: 10/10 COTW NOMINEE!
