Week of April 4 - 10, 2011
As NHL teams gear up for the playoffs, HJC gears up for another week.
I'll start by telling you that the winner of the Atlanta Thrashers ReDesign was Jack. Jack deserves it, as I was a goon and forgot to initially include his entry. The results can be seen below. With the win, Jack's Thrashers concepts instantly move into this week's COTW voting.
The next ReDesign will be for the Colorado Avalanche.Submissions will be accepted until Sunday @ 11:59pm EST. You can read all of the rules by clicking on the Avalanche banner on the right side of the page.
As I mentioned above Jack's winning design moves into COTW voting. You can find said voting on the left side of the page. You can also view the nominees under the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK tab. Voting runs until Thursday @ 11:59pm EST. After that winner is determined, we move on to COTW for March. Then it's COTW 1st Quarter Vote!
Last week's Weekly Poll asked which of the defunct teams' jerseys you liked the best. With 28% of the vote, the Whalers were the most popular choice. There they are above, wearing their awesome jerseys and completely dangerous Cooperalls! The Nordiques got 20% while the Jets, North Stars and Rockies/Scouts got 12%, 11%, and 10% respectively.
This week's Weekly Poll asks what you think is the greatest hockey video game of ALL-TIME. You can vote on the right side of the page. Voting will be open until Sunday @ 11:59pm. Obviously there are so many options. I only included what I thought were the top choices. Feel free to choose other and discuss this on the Facebook page.
I have some really great concepts for you today!
Dallas Stars concepts (by Tom)I have to nominate this one for early COTW! Tom did a fantastic job making that old Stars' alternate logo look actually like a bull rather than a uterus! The striping and shoulders looks classic yet, is something we haven't seen too much before in the NHL.
Calgary Flames concept (by Tex)Tex sent this in calling it wishful thinking. This is what he'd like to see the Flames wear on the road. I'm sure most of you (I'm not included in that group) would like to see the Flames simplify their sweaters.
Buffalo Sabres concepts (by Jacob)Jacob really likes the retro wordmark (as most of us do) and he created a matching set using the mark. He's also aware that the crest is a little low. If you take away the yellow shoulders, I think you got a couple of winners.
Carolina Hurricanes concept (by Stéphane)Stéphane says that seeing as the Hurricanes recognize the Whalers in their lineage by hanging their retired numbers, that they should also continue the recognition by wearing these killers heritage jerseys.

I second the "Tomination" for cotw
Not Feeling Tom's Bull Logo.
Otherwise pretty cool design.
Something about Dallas - maybe they need a total color change altogether.
Or maybe they should go for more of an old pre RBK London Knights color scheme.
Tom bringin back the mooterus haha. Nice job! Actually looks good.
those Wheat or off white jerseys - they don't do it for me.
Go traditional white or go home for a jersey base color.
I don't know about that logo, it just doesn't look right, maybe if the horns were upward, or something.
I like Tex's Flames concept, I DON"T like the current sweaters
