Friday: You Got Your Sport in my Sport!
Well folks, it's another Friday here on HJC!
Since there is nothing I can really touch on today, I'll just skip this section and move on to the more important things. For those of you itching to know what's new, check out the other posts from earlier in the week!

Off to the concepts!
Adam G. - Minnesota North Stars
Execution: Always note your tags. Make sure the helmet has a team logo. This does need a Reebok and NHL logo. That, and make sure the stitching ends at the stripe. (.25/1)
Striping: It's a simple pattern. But it's good. There isn't much to talk about because it's nothing too new. (1.5/2)
Effectiveness: It's pretty much ice ready. (1/1)
Creativity: I love that logo, but outside of that I don't feel like there's too much to talk about. (1/2)
Other: It's a lot like the Minnesota Wild alternate the more I look at it, which does make sense. The addition of yellow actually does add a lot. It's a very simple concept and I think that's cool. One little thing though is that I personally would've done yellow socks. (3/4)

Overall: It's a little too basic for me. (6.75/10)
Ben S. - Western Michigan University
Execution: Everything here seems really tight. (1/1)
Striping: The home and away are very simple and classic. No one can really complain about a tried and true pattern like this. That first alternate is gorgeous. The addition of that creamy color is absolutely fantastic. The second alternate does fall a little flat. I never was a fan of the very very classic look, so that may just be me. But I do think it's a little too plain for my tastes. (1.25/2)
Effectiveness: An incredibly believable jersey set. (1/1)
Creativity: The first two jerseys do dock some points as they are so templated, but that first alternate, while not the most original idea, does look cool enough to balance that out a bit. (1/2)
Other: I think the biggest issue with this series is the color set and the wordmark logos. I never liked the brown and yellow colors because I could only think of a banana split sundae whenever I see them. The alternate does cut that a little. I would've also detracted from that fact by trying to use that cool logo the Broncos have, maybe designing more around that. (2/4)

Overall: It's clear to me you've got potential to grow into a great artist. Keep working at it and really refining those concepts! (6.25/10)
Duncan L. - Port Adelaide Power
Execution: One issue. On the away jersey, the logo is surrounded by a black box. That fact is lost on the black and teal jerseys. I don't know if this was intentional or not, but it does lose a bit of its consistency that way. (.5/1)
Striping: It's creative, but I don't know how to chalk it up with the whole lightning and energy motif. I think it would've translated well into the sides a la Cyclones, but I think what you have is great as well. The alternate is not really my cup of tea, a little too weak for me. (1/2)
Effectiveness: It's definitely kooky enough for a football jersey. (1/1)
Creativity: This isn't that new of a design for me, and that's a little sad to say. (1/2)
Other: I think what you did with the whole V theme is really cool, a great translation. But I feel as though the alternate is not cohesive enough with the set to really work. I think that the black pants do not work for the alternate either, you need to watch things like color balance when pants comes into question. Or just in general. (2/4)

Overall: I feel as though this concept really does have its high points, but it really just doesn't do it for me. (5.5/10)
Duncan L. - Richmond Tigers
Execution: Got all the essentials in. (1/1)
Striping: I like the fact that there's a difference between the home and away, albeit a little subtle. Cool stuff here. Also, for those of you who don't know how to do a box hem, this is exactly it. (1.5/2)
Effectiveness: Yeah, I'd actually buy that third jersey in a heartbeat. (1/1)
Creativity: Not too much is done creatively. (.5/2)
Other: Ok, the pants are a little weird to me this time around. They don't fit too well with anything else here. I can't really see too much relationship to the team either. (2/4)

Overall: I'm a little confused with some of the choices, but still a great jersey. (6/10)
Jake M. - Valerenga Fotball
Execution: It's good! (1/1)
Striping: This, while being simple, does have that slightly offset line that really makes this concept look cool. Good stuff. The yoke here actually is incredibly fitting here. (1.75/2)
Effectiveness: Yeah! (1/1)
Creativity: Again, a little cookie cutter, but it does take older conventions and flips them on their heads. It's like... I don't even really know how to put it. And that's probably a good thing. (1/2)
Other: I don't have much else to say. It's very cohesive and self explanatory, which is always a great thing to say about jersey. (3/4)

Overall: It's a good jersey. It isn't too insanely crazy and creative, but it gets the job done of conveying a message and creating a unique personality. (7.75/10) and a COTW nom from me

Well, that's it for today! Make sure you tune into tomorrow for Ryan's weekly report.
Best of luck to all of you in the coming week. It's only a little longer before hockey starts up again! And let's hope it's even a better season than last!
Hey! Remember to chime in down below if you think one of these concepts are worthy of being the COTW!

Duncan L.'s Port Adelaide Power concept for COTW. I'm really loving the striping.
scores are little harsh imo
Adam G's North Stars concept for COTW.
I'll second Adam G. for COTW.
I'll second Jake for COTW. I just wish the there was no red outline and you simply made the single thin stripe red with the thick stripe blue.
I'll 3ed Adam G for COTW, a beautiful alternate
