HJC NOT QUITE PRIME TIME

Hey there loyal HJCers. Sorry about the lateness of the post. It's the start of the WNBA's playoffs this week as well as player awards being announced, so I've been pretty busy with my internship with the Chicago Sky.

One big thing today before we get to the concepts... The Islanders officially unveiled their black alternate jersey.

Check out the team's twitter for more images of the jersey. Overall, it doesn't look as good in person as I was hoping it would. I'm starting to fall out of love with the NY logo, plus, even though I like the striping on the arms, I think the stripes should be thicker. The hem could sure use some stripes. And the collar... is... interesting. I don't hate it, but hmm.

CM Punk Fan Jersey - Brian B.

CM Punk is a well known wrestler/MMA fighter and a Chicago guy. He's also a purchaser of counterfeit jerseys. He's all about those Chicago sports. He called out Hulk Hogan during the finals over the summer for being a Lightning fan. This jersey would be some cool fan gear, and fits his personality well. It resembles a Hawks jersey and also utilizes the stars and colors from the city's flag. I like it.

Greenville Swamp Rabbits Concept - Brooks Freeman

This is a much better look than the jerseys they will actually wear. It's got a very "old timey" "classic" feel to it, when I think a slightly more modern look would pair well with the logos. Well... maybe not "modern" but something more bold. The striping is complex and full of thin stripes and I think some bolder stripes would look good. That being said, I like the white jersey. The striping overall looks blue. Perhaps fix the striping on the dark jersey to be more white or orange.

Greenville Swamp Rabbits Alternate Jersey Concept - Brooks Freeman

The rainbowy striping doesn't look bad on the arms and hem, even the pants. But I'm not a fan of it on the yoke. I say make the yoke solid blue and this is a good third jersey. Not a fan of the yellow/light orange trim on the numbers, It'd look better gray or white, whichever the crest is outlined with. Also, I think a blue, white, or gray third jersey would be a better look. I want to like the orange, but it's just not sitting well with me.

Greater Western Sydney Concept - Duncan L.

Three jerseys, three designs. I'd prefer that the home and away were closer in design but all three jerseys look pretty good. The number font is really cool. The home jersey is the most simple but still good looking. Good color scheme. The away jersey may be my favorite. The pants don't really fit the home jersey well to me, but they look good with the away. I think a solid brown would look best though, unless the home jersey striping was changed to match the pants then I'm all for it. The third jersey is the most template-y and I want to not like it as much for it, but the number font saves it.

Hawthorn Hawks Concept - Duncan L.

Very stripey set for the Hawks and I'm a fan. Although, I wish the sleeve color would extend to the yoke and take up the whole sleeve, of course then the TV numbers would need a color change. Everything is pretty solid overall and I wouldn't change anything else. BUT... I would like to see a tiny bit of white on the home jersey somehow.
