Tuesday: Concepts Concepts Concepts Concepts!
Hi everybody, Steve M here. I'm not feeling so well today guys so I'm going to do my best today, but before we begin I have some explaining about the HJC Podcast (which was really fun and you should listen to it before reading this post if you already haven't).
That female voice in the background was my girlfriend. You see, her leg is in a knee immobilizer due to her tearing MPFL(The muscle attach to the knee cap). I was in the next room with the door closed and I told her before I started the podcast "Please don't make any loud noises or do anything to hurt yourself because I can't help you until this is over." That lasted about 15 minutes. She dropped her phone on the floor while she was texting. So, disregard that female voice unless you want to picture a woman in a knee immobilizer struggling to get out of a rocking recliner to get her phone while you're listening to it. By the way, she feels bad for being the background noise.
Getting back on track, we have the HJC playoff pool that ends TOMORROW when the pucks drop so get your picks in. Also, like usual, we have the COTW and COTW-March vote due by Friday so get on that as well.
Hi ho concepts, away!
Negatives: Your TV numbers aren't correct. while the 1 is over far enough, you don't have any of the 9 on that same side. The light blue replacing the silver was an interesting idea, but it just doesn't work here. the different colored bottoms of the jersey and sleeves in the light blue just look off. Also, just make the dark blue on the white jersey a traditional yoke. It looks so busy with the whole top of the arms covered all the way to the sleeve stripes. Also, replace the light blue sleeve cuffs with dark blue on the white and dark blue jersey and give the light blue a much more minor role and this jersey would be solid.
Overall: 7/10
Negatives: The placement of the TV numbers on the jersey look awkward to me. the fact that they are partly on one stripe makes it look unfinished. Add the numbers to the middle of the stripping or move the stripping down slightly.
Overall: 7.5/10
Negatives: The number font is a little strange to me. Overall, this jersey set is pretty traditional and looks similar to St. Louis and New Jersey.
Overall: 7.25/10
Negatives: The TV numbers are wrong. See our tutorials page to learn about using the "1" on a sleeve. You also have the old reebok logo on the jersey. But really, this is just a vintage sabres jersey recolored with white in the stripes.
Overall: 6.5/10
Negatives: That end-to-end yoke just doesn't work on this jersey. Leave it as a yoke. Also, bring back the alternate logo on the jersey.
Overall: 7.5/10
Negatives: Make the numbers on the white jersey a different color. I don't care what color just don't make them white with a dark outline because that can be hard to see even with the waist stripe.
Overall: 8/10 COTW NOMINEE
Negatives: Why are your sleeve numbers so high up and uneven? also, move the crest logo up slightly.
Overall: 6.75/10
Well those are all the concepts for this Tuesday everybody. Don't forget to enter in the Playoff Pool, vote for the COTW, listen to the HJC Podcast, and tell Phil, our Wednesday writer, what you hate about the New York Islanders tomorrow in the comments section.
Before I go I'd like to say to everybody who did the Podcast that it was fun and, again, my girlfriend is sorry for all the noise in the background. Have a good week and I'll see you all this time next week.

Hi ho concepts, away!
Bpoe96- Columbus Blue Jackets
Positives: Clean design work here Poe. Making the alternate numbering the primary was a very good choice. It's a great font and I think that it works well with the both logos. The traditional stripes on the sleeves and hem using just red and white were a good choice.Negatives: Your TV numbers aren't correct. while the 1 is over far enough, you don't have any of the 9 on that same side. The light blue replacing the silver was an interesting idea, but it just doesn't work here. the different colored bottoms of the jersey and sleeves in the light blue just look off. Also, replace the light blue sleeve cuffs with dark blue on the white and dark blue jersey and give the light blue a much more minor role and this jersey would be solid.
Overall: 7/10
Bpoe96- Montreal Canadiens
Positives: Very clean and traditional. The simple nod to the Maroons jersey with the sleeve stripping is a nice touch and thanks for pointing that out on the concept.Negatives: The placement of the TV numbers on the jersey look awkward to me. the fact that they are partly on one stripe makes it look unfinished. Add the numbers to the middle of the stripping or move the stripping down slightly.
Overall: 7.5/10
Jay Schreyer- Augsburg Panthers
Positives: The diagonal sleeve stripes are a nice touch on the primary jerseys. It gives the primary set a unique feel to it. The alternate "throwback" style jersey reminds me of a vintage new jersey devils look, but it's a nice change from the other two jerseys.Negatives: The number font is a little strange to me. Overall, this jersey set is pretty traditional and looks similar to St. Louis and New Jersey.
Overall: 7.25/10
John Visaggio- Buffalo Sabres 3rd
Positives: The vintage style yellow jersey works well overall. The sleeve and hem stripe are nice and having the numbers in the logo and moving the buffalo itself to the shoulder is very interesting. It reminds me of the Golden State Warriors.Negatives: The TV numbers are wrong. See our tutorials page to learn about using the "1" on a sleeve. You also have the old reebok logo on the jersey. But really, this is just a vintage sabres jersey recolored with white in the stripes.
Overall: 6.5/10
Lucas Daitchman- Colorado Avalanche
Positives: Ok Lucas, because this is just different enough than your previous Avalanche jersey with the same mountain style by the collar, I'll let it slide this time. Anyways, The simple stripping was a good choice on this and I'm glad that you listened to me when I questioned the stitching of the last jersey. Also, adding a double outline to the numbering was a nice touch.Negatives: That end-to-end yoke just doesn't work on this jersey. Leave it as a yoke. Also, bring back the alternate logo on the jersey.
Overall: 7.5/10
Ryan Christensen- San Jose Sharks
Positives: Another well done concept by Ryan. I'll be honest, I never would have thought that the Canadiens' home jersey style would work for a team like the sharks, but it does. Also, limiting the orange really makes it stand out more.Negatives: Make the numbers on the white jersey a different color. I don't care what color just don't make them white with a dark outline because that can be hard to see even with the waist stripe.
Overall: 8/10 COTW NOMINEE
Tyler Meli-Skewis- Colorado Avalanche
Positives: The Colorado "C" logo was a nice choice on this. Also, bring back the mountains for the hem was a good idea.Negatives: Why are your sleeve numbers so high up and uneven? also, move the crest logo up slightly.
Overall: 6.75/10
