Saturday: A Pair of Winners Named Dylan

Welcome back to another HJC Saturday post.

The winner of the COTW for March 27 - April 2 was Ryan C!

Full Results

This was the 2015 COTY Champion's first COTW win of 2016. Can this Bulldogs concept bring Ryan back-to-back wins? It was a very close vote and I needed to use my vote to break a tie in the end. This is the risk with having many concepts in the weekly vote. It just seems that when you narrow it down to just a few selections, ties are less likely.

That was the final weekly vote of the month (and the quarter). It's now time to determine the best concept from March. They are listed in the red poll on the side of the page. Click the link in the poll to see the concepts or go to the COTY 2016 tab. Google account holders can log in and vote until Friday at 11:59pm Eastern.

The new COTW nominees for April 3-9 have been listed on the side of the page in the black banner. We had seven concepts seconded, but only two were thirded or more and move into this vote along with the Pairs Comp winners. Click the link in the poll or go to the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK tab to see the concepts. The poll will appear to those logged into a Google account and voting will end on Friday at 11:59pm Eastern.

It's now time to announce the winners of the 2016 Pairs Competition, if you haven't picked up on this already.

The winners from the Intermediate Division were Dylan G. & Zeke G. with their NHL Color Rush presentation!

The winners from the Advanced Division were Dylan A. and Matt M. and their Winter Classic in New York presentation!

Here are the results from both votes:

Both of these teams now have the jerseys from their presentations moved into the COTW vote. Good luck to both teams. I suppose there will be a vote within a vote this week to see which presentation gets more attention.

HJC Writers and myself will be recording a HJC Podcast this weekend! That should be published either Monday or Tuesday. There's lots to talk about and the writers have a lot to say. Plus you guys have left some great questions over the past couple of weeks so we'll get to those as well.

Steven G. was talking mascots yesterday and that led me down a road of Google searches to find this:
SpetzMascots.com
That's the Birmingham Bulls' of the old WHA mascot. I couldn't find his name, but I'm sure someone will know. This guy is so 70's! Imagine this freak show bombin' around the arena trying to get the fans on their feet. Really everyone is just looking at him like he's the guy on the city bus making a scene.

Has anyone ever had the chance to be one of these types of characters? Nearly 15 years ago when I had my first job at McDonalds, I was Grimace for two days. I walked around and waved at people and they took a picture with me for $1 (this was before the era of camera cell phones) for charity. It was lots of fun.

Wow! by one, didn't see that coming. Hats off to Ryan C, that concept is pretty much better then what the Bulldogs got with their dark jersey.
