Ducks Throwback #1 - 1993 White Jersey

On Monday, the Anaheim Ducks held their home opener and began their 25th anniversary celebrations with the first of nine throwback jerseys.

Monday's jersey was the 1993 home white jersey first worn by the Mighty Ducks during that inaugural season.

 

It was great to see a near direct throwback. The numbers, colours, and stripes were about as accurate as can be.

 

In some instances like this you would get the roundel shoulder patch that was introduced during their third season on the throwback and most wouldn't think anything of it. However it appears the Ducks and Adidas have made a point to try an be as authentic as possible.

Of course Adidas couldn't allow this to be a completely authentic throwback. Why wouldn't you take the opportunity to throw your branding on this jersey in a place where branding has never appeared before (at least not on this sweater)? The Adidas logo appears on the front left chest and on its usual spot just below the collar on the rear. We were so close to being so authentic, but no!

 

It could have been worse though. Just bending over and accepting Adidas insertion of its branding allows one to enjoy this throwback jersey as a quality replica that brings back memories of the Mighty Ducks from 1993-94...which was the desired result.

The Ducks then broke out their 25th anniversary alternate jersey to wear for the game!

I was excited to see these jerseys and they didn't disappoint. I think how the Ducks are using these jerseys just in warm-ups is the perfect way to celebrate their 25th anniversary. I'm not a huge fan of a team wearing multiple throwbacks during a season.
