Burkus Circus.- FLA vs. TBL Color Rush
We get another color rush entry from Burkus Circus here, this time a battle of Florida. I'm in the middle of a Color Rush series myself, so I think it's a great idea. What I don't think is such a great idea is diverting from the teams identities as much as you are. The Panthers use a truncated chest stripe for both their home and road, yet you carry it around here. Black is a great color choice for Tampa Bay, but they've built their brand on striping simplicity so the busy striping pattern here seems out of place. Beyond the brand disconnect, this really is a strong concept. The colors play well off each other and create a new look for each team. Even the dark numbers work for Tampa. Although its a look I wouldn't usually get behind it works for a color rush.Overall Rating: 8.0/10
Two jersey sets that are on point, but unfortunately off brand.
Chase C.- Chicago Blackhawks
Chase gives us a look at his take on a fauxback set for Chicago. These two looks are quite reminiscent of Chicago's first (and best) Winter Classic sweater which I love! The striping pattern works well on both the home and road, though I think I'd swap the black and cream on the road to use the same pattern between the two sets and to provide greater contrast between the black and red. Although I'm quite fond of the C-tomahawk secondary, I'm not sure its strong enough to find a home on the chest, especially in the recolored version on the black sweater here. Beyond that, no real complaints about this one. Oh, don't forget to put some Identifier on your concepts.
Overall Rating: 8.75/10
For a team that's thrown back to nearly every look possibly, perhaps its time to faux back instead.
Justin H.- PHI vs. PIT Stadium Series
Justin creates a look for the second Stadium Series matchup between the Flyers and Pens. Both jerseys are true beauties here with the Flyers adopting an orange version of their past Stadium Series look and their current alternate. In my mind this is a vast improvement over their current look as the black arms create a nice contrast rather than more of the same. The Pens adopt a white and gold version of their second Winter Classic look. While a good look, this Pens jersey strikes me more as a Winter Classic jersey than a Stadium Series which creates some disconnect between the two. The gloves could also use some gold given its prominence in the sweater
Overall Rating: 8.0/10
Two good looks for two good teams, but not necessarily good for the same game.
Mac W.- Anaheim Ducks
Mac gives us his take on what I can only assume is an Anaheim Ducks redesign despite being labelled as one for the Canucks. To be entirely honest, each jersey is too minimalist for me, though I do appreciate the logo changes across the set. Not sure its an entirely finished product, but its a good way to blend eras. The shoulder logo has a nice inspiration to it as well. Like I said, though, the jerseys just fall flat. The primaries remind me of the Oilers original edge nightmares and the alternate is the worst parts of their current jerseys recast in the old color scheme
Overall Rating: 8.0/10
Way to shoot your shot on the logo changes, just wish you were as ambitious in your approach to the jerseys.
That's all for today folks.
