Monday: Christmas Day Concepts
Welcome to the Monday post, and of course, Merry Christmas!
I'm enjoying this Christmas from sunny Orlando, FL, home of the Solar Bears. Hopefully you and yours are having a wonderful day, maybe you got a jersey or two...why not tell us about it in the concepts?
Voting for this week is pretty simple: We have the normal COTW vote on the side of the blog. Just click the concept you want to win, and vote. It's easier than picking your character in Pokémon or filling out a census!
We do not have a contest this week, as it is the week between Christmas and New Years, and we all deserve a break and will be back with more HJC contests next year. These will include the COTY 2018 logo, a couple redesigns, and some surprises.
On with today's concepts!
+ The font used here kind of reminds me of Disney's Hercules for the Playstation, looks great
+ Striping is solid, 3 stripes for 3 cups, and not matching the hem reminds me of the 80s jerseys
+ Great execution
+ Like the shoulder patch
- The colour balancing is a bit off here, too much red on the white jersey
- I really want to see the back of the jerseys to see more of the Zero to Hero font
Rating: 8/10
New Jersey Devils Concepts (By: BurkusCircus)
+ I like the chest striping with the Devils logo cutting it off
+ I kind of like the upper arm pattern, especially with the piping around it
+ Good execution
- Colour balancing is WAY OFF here, swap the red and the black (no Iron Maiden reference intended)
- Sock stripes are WAY TOO thin
- Where's the gear? You've included the sock but no helmet, gloves or pants
Rating: 6.5/10
New Jersey Devils Concepts (By: Jordan R.)
+ That heritage jersey has enough minor changes I won't call it a direct throwback, and a nice addition for a couple years
+ The alternate does a good job balancing the red, black and green and it kind of works
+ The home and road are different I will say that, especially trying of all things, double green, full points for originality
+ Fantastic execution and layout
- I'm not a big fan of the double green, and while I totally like how different things are, it's not my cup of tea
- Ditto for the logo, it's different, but reminds me of something the Lowell Devils would have tried in 2007
Rating: 8/10
Toronto Blue Jays MLH Concepts (By: TC Moore)
+ The Jays haven't done double blue full time since the mid 90s-2003, and here it really helps bring this hockey jersey together
+ Great colour balancing between the home and road, and I like how in this series TC has gone out of his way NOT to have any grey jerseys
+ The alternate has so much nostalgia and is my favourite Jays identity I can't not love it
+ Great execution
- The skyline numbers on the white jersey are a bit hard to get a clear look at because of the double blue skyline thing
- Why aren't these available?
Rating: 9.25/10 COTW Nom from me!
San Diego Padres MLH Concepts (By: TC Moore)
+ We get a blend of the best look from the Classic Padres, and the Modern Padres, both colour schemes are excellent and both should be used today
+ The logo choices are also excellent, the interlocking SD surprisingly looks good, and the bowtie script is quintessential Padres
+ The way TC has done the striping non the arms, while a little weird, is a neat idea
+ Great execution
- Why no name on the back of the brown jersey?
- Why don't the Padres still wear yellow and navy again?
Rating: 8.75/10

2nd TC’s Blue Jays concept. The alternate jersey is amazing.
