Cleveland Monsters Fauxback to 90s

The Cleveland Monsters, or Lake Erie Monsters, or Lake Erie Monsters of Cleveland, are a staple AHL franchise, and have made themselves one of the top brands in the league. That is no surprise, what is a surprise is that the franchise has only existed since 2007 in its current form. As such, they don't have many jerseys to throwback to once you get past the Cleveland Barons, Cleveland Lumberjacks, and Cleveland Crusaders. This is where any creative team will try to create a fauxback, a jersey made to the style of an era the team never existed in, but is made to look as "what if the team were around in 1994?" The Monsters have answered that last question as on February 2nd, the team will faux things back to the 90s.

The fauxback design here, despite being never worn, incorporates parts of the Monsters history, such as a modernized version of their original angled number style, and finned M primary logo from their early years. The striping resembles both the Capitals 1995-2007 angled jerseys, and the frills on the top and side the Monster's head. The shoulders will feature Columbus's primary logo as an affiliate patch (delisted the Blue Jackets never playing a game in the 1990s), and a recoloured version of the current primary logo with red water. The M logo has also been recoloured to have the original light blue replaced by maroon to match the current colour scheme's emphasis on colours similar to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
