Monday: Double Vintage Blackhawks
Welcome to the Monday post!
Here are your voting reminders for the week. Most importantly we have the 2017 COTY Final going on this week, where Jake & Ryan will go head to head to see who wins best concept of the year past! We also have the regular COTW vote between Bpoe & Noah K..
For those of you in The Season, you should have gotten Ryan's email instructing you as to what the next steps are, but entries are due Friday @ Noon!
Finally, I wanna say thanks to all those who are reading and enjoying my Why Not to Buy Fakes series so far. After the Toronto Maple Leafs posted a tweet where 80% of those in jerseys and 100% of people in the photo were wearing fake jerseys and taking said tweet down, it's clear that NHL teams need to do more work in not accidentally promoting fake jerseys on social media. I usually try to find the most outrageous examples of fakes, or those with glaring errors because they tend to make the point all the more poignant- Fakes suck!, but trust me, even if the design on the jersey matches up to a real product, the material and general cheapness will be a dead giveaway.

On with today's 4 concepts!
+ The striping here is weird, something the Leafs have never used in this form, and I really like it!
+ I love how the current Leafs logo looks with a chest stripe
+ The hybrid modern logo/TML looks awesome! I'm a huge TML logo fan
+ Great execution
-The collar is a missed opportunity. If this were an Adidas concept I wouldn't have this issue as much, but a tie down would really add to this concept
- The Leaf logo on the pants is a bit too much as there are 3 Leafs on the jersey itself and one on the helmet
- This concept reminds me a lot of the Stadium Series, and adding some silver her would make this concept look especially sharp

Chicago Blackhawks Concept (By: Ben S.)
+ If the Blackhawks are going to rock another black jersey, they'll need lots of red and white striping, like this
+ Arm logo looks great
+ Arm stripes remind me of a Stadium Series version of the 1945/1992 jerseys, would totally have been better than what we got in 2014
+ Good execution
- Namebars do not go below the numbers. After the 2000 & 2001 All Star Games; where Team World did the same and later as found to be in violation of NHL uniform code. It works in the NWHL, and maybe for a non-Original 6 team it could work, but not here
- Numbers are too small on the back

Miami Redhawks MAC/NCAA Concepts (By: Noah K.)
+ While the striping is a little Leaf-esque, I do appreciate the attempts to make it unique to the team, namely wth the brick pattern
+ Despite the pants not matching, both jerseys look good enough with them I don't mind
+ Alternate fits that vintage style we've seen from Chicago of the AHL and other college teams, looks great!
+ Good execution
- The brick pattern would look better if it curved with the hem and arms
- NOB should be white on the red jersey
- Sock stripes are much too low on the socks

Chicago Blackhawks 2019 Winter Classic Concept (By: Ryan HJC)
+ Love that shade of darker vintage red mixed with vintage white
+ Logo choices are solid
+ Pants, despite lacking vintage white, add a lot to the look as a whole
+ Tan outline on the logo is a nice vintage callback
+ This is just a really nice fauxback
+ Great execution
- Would have liked to see some red sewn into the numbers, similar to Buffalo's 2010-12 alternate
