Cornwall Nationals to Honour CHL Royals

From 1969 to 1992, the Cornwall Royals were one of the CHL's most recognizable franchises. They'd spend from '69-'81in the LMJHQ and '82-'92 in the OHL before moving the Newmarket and today are the Sarnia Sting. They'd produce some of the best talent the NHL had such as Dale Hawerchuck, Doug Gilmour, Owen Nolan, Billy Smith, and other greats like Mathieu Schneider, Rick Tabaracci, Richard Brodeur, and Rob Ray. They'd win  a Memorial cup in 1972 and two more consecutive Memorial Cups in 1980 & 1981. Interestingly we haven't seen this identity return in a major hockey league, despite it lasting for nearly 3 decades....until tonight.

The Cornwall Nationals of the Single A affiliate FHL will take to Ed Lumley Arena, the home of the Royals from 1976-92 wearing Royals jerseys against the Watertown Wolves.

The jerseys are an exact replica of the Royals road jerseys worn from 1980-92 with a slightly lighter blue than the 80s jerseys. These replica jerseys will be auctioned off after the game for charity! The game will also be attended by several Cornwall Royal alumni
