Thursday: All Star Anticipation
As stated in many of this week's posts we've hit a bit of a lull in concept submissions with only two each day this week, so I'd like you all to take a minute to imagine a place where...
The concepts start coming and they don't stop coming
Read our Logo Use rules and you'll hit the ground running
Doesn't make sense to submit what's been done
Doesn't make sense to submit what's been done
It may look smart but'll make you look dumb
So much to do, so much to see
So what's wrong with submitting to HJC?
You'll never know if you don't go
You'll never shine if you don't glow
Here's our latest entries...
John Elbertson
I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed, but I did remember to remind you about our regular concept of the week vote as well as the 4th Quarter and 2017 COTY Logo vote. The three polls can be found on the right side of the page.
REMINDERS:
4th Quarter Vote (ends Friday @ noon ET)
COTW January 5-11 vote (ends Friday @ noon ET)
2017 COTY Logo vote (ends Friday @ noon ET)
Semiahoo PeeWee A1 Competition: (Entries Due Friday January 26 @ noon ET)
Semiahoo PeeWee A1 Competition: (Entries Due Friday January 26 @ noon ET)
Time to get our game on; go play!

The Good:
- I'm a sucker for historically inspired looks, and that's no different here. Brendan does an excellent job of displaying the inspiration behind each component of his design.
- With the success of last years Stadium Series jersey and the Penguins return to Pittsburgh Gold, I wouldn't be surprised to see a yellow alternate added to the Pens arsenal next season
- With the Pens going back to their early 90s look for their primary, the Pirates offer up some great alternate potential without directly copying what's already there
The Bad:
- If you're going for a no white look I'd go all the way and remove the white triangle around the penguin (a la 2017 Stadium Series)
- If not, I'd take a stab at making the thin yellow stripes white to create some more consistency in the design. White outlines on the #OB could help as well.
Overall Rating: 8.75/10
I said "Yep, what a concept".
Noah K.- Buffalo Bills (MAC - NCAA)
The Good:
- Cuffed full-length yoke is something I certainly haven't seen before and it works for Buffalo here
- NOB in the yoke is a nice look. Like how it looks on the Canes away and would love to see it more regularly.
The Bad:
- Front numbers really lose their practicality with the Nike logo already occupying the right breast
- Would like to see the dark jersey's striping pattern find its way onto the pants as well
- Numbers on the alt would look better with a black outline
- I'd swap to a blue dark jersey as that is a fantastic shade and it would help the hierarchy of colors between the home and road
The Ugly (Execution Issues):
- Hem striping on the rear of the primaries should be curved to match the template. This is something you did correctly on the alternate, so its a strange inconsistency.
- Sock striping seems low, but it may just be a symptom of me not seeing much of this template
Overall Rating: 6.75/10
The ice we skate is getting pretty slim; the water's getting warm so you might as well swim.
Although all that glitters is gold, Brendan's Penguins Concept breaks the mold, so he'll take home COTW Nomination Honors.
