Sunday: Two can be as bad as one

It's the loneliest number since the number one. Hi everybody. I start this post this way simply because we have TWO lonely concepts today and that's a shame because I want to see you guys do some great stuff!

Anyways, I was searching the old intraweb the other day when I came across the website puckmarks.net. The site's a great place for getting a reference on any fonts that NHL teams are using this year so if you want to make a trace of the fonts that you don't have in your font library then puckmarks.net is a great place to go!

Finally, Don't forget  about the COTW voting, the Semiahoo jersey comp, COTY semi-final vote, and to register for the Season!

COTY Semi-Finals vote (ends Friday @ noon ET)
COTW Jan 11-18 vote (ends Friday @ noon ET)
Semiahmoo entries (due Friday @ noon ET)
Register for The Season (by Friday @ noon ET)

Ok let's get to it!

Brendan P (BPoe)- Columbus Blue Jackets
Positives: First off, it's nice to see that you brought over that modern striping on the jersey. Second, the striping based off of the Ohio state flag in the logo looks great and it really gives the jersey a simple and classic look but does a really good job of a tie-in to the logo. That also goes for the three stars on the arms.
Negatives: Those numbers look way too high up on the sleeves for my liking. It almost looks like you placed them where Nike would put numbers (and we all know how I feel about the Nike template). Also, why would you do just the cannon on the pants and the roundel with the cannon on the shoulders? I'm not sure if the roundel would look better but it would be nice if the two logos matched.
Overall: 8.75/10 COTW NOMINEE!

Noah K- Central Michigan Chippewas
Positives: The simplicity really works with a design of the logo. Also working with the accent colors, the drop shadow in the numbers to match the logo looks amazing. Second, the University Shield is a very nice touch on the shoulders. it really helps prevent give more color to the jersey without taking away from the overall design. Finally, the yoke on the white was a nice choice to prevent the jersey from looking too bare.
Negatives: While I like your simplistic approach to it, my main issue is that you have this really dominant stripe on the jersey and then this almost unrecognizable stripe near it. Make that stripe a little bit bigger and it would improve the look of the jersey so much more. Also, the Seal of Central Michigan, while a nice touch to the jersey, is way too large on the shoulders and should be shrunken down.
Overall: 7.5/10

Well that's all I got for you guys today. Thanks for stopping by and you have a good rest of the week. See you next week!

I’ll second BPoe for COTW. Finally a CBJ set that doesn’t look like garbage.
