News: Islanders Pioneer New Adidas Military Jerseys

The Islanders have unveiled their warm-ups for Military Appreciation night on November 16th against Carolina at Barclays Center. They seem to follow the template idea the Islanders unveiled when they showed off a photo shoot for the Hockey Fights Cancer jerseys on their Snapchat and Instagram live videos, which I wrote about here.

Solid colored yoke, partial stripes on the arms, Adidas stripes, and a portion of the back of the yoke under the collar with the same color as the collar, just like a practice jersey. The neat part of this jersey is the camouflage trim on the inside of the collar.

Here's last year's jerseys modeled by goalies Thomas Greiss and Jaroslav Halak.

I kind of like the solid body and yoke. Adds a bit more of a clean look to compliment the camouflage. The reason it's there though is not fun: the three stripes. Adidas figured that having the body a solid color would allow the stripes to stand out better as opposed to having the lighter color on a camouflage body. I mean they aren't wrong, but it's slightly disappointing.

These jerseys are being auctioned off now to benefit the Islanders Children's Foundation, with bids starting at $350. If you want one, click here.

Kind of looks like the combat shirts we wore in Afghanistan. http://gamingshogun.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/acs_mc_sht_fv_804.jpg
