Thursday: Back to Back
By virtue of introducing myself yesterday and writing two posts in as many days, I'm going to keep it short and sweet. Read. Vote (I say again "hint, hint, wink, wink"). Design.
On to the Concepts!
Jesper W.- Farjestad BK
Ryan H.- San Jose Sharks
COTW-September vote (ends Friday @ noon ET)
COTW Sep 29 - Oct 5 vote (ends Friday @ noon ET)

On to the Concepts!

Brooks F.- Utica Comets
The Good:
- Striping design clearly drawn from the logo provides a unique look
- Pulling it into a U on the arms is a nice touch as well
- Keeping the arms and hem identical on both sweaters allows blue to remain prominent on the away
The Bad:
- Like yesterday, I'm sad to not see the Canucks' primary make an appearance on the shoulders
- Pant's design is another unique take, but is a miss for me as the more traditional look clashes with the modern touches of the jerseys
- Something about the #OB font rubs me the wrong way. Likely the style diffrences between it and the primary's text
The Ugly (Execution Issues):
- Helmet logos should be rotated back slightly to match the rotation of the helmet.
Overall Rating: 7.0/10
A concept that clearly shoots for the stars, but is unfortunately brought down to Earth by a few agreement issues.
The Good:
- Just what the doctor ordered, a Farjestad concept without the unnecessary inclusion of black...
- ...And with Farjestad's primary taking center stage as the main crest
- Same true-to-life execution of the jersey advertisements.
- Arm treatment keep this concept from being a fill-bucket treatment of a look we've seen too many times before.
- Collar-execution is leagues ahead of yesterday's look
The Bad:
- Main crest could certainly do without the extra outline
The Ugly (Execution Issues):
- Still not completely behind the team logo in the collar insert
- There's some noticeable pixelation in the striping and the chest logo. A higher resolution template would lead to a simple solution for this issue
Overall Rating: 8.0/10
A traditional look with just the right amount of modernity to freshen it up
The Good:
- Logo choices here work well for an alternate, especially if San Jose adopts their Los Tiburones" look going froward
- The Kings proved a grey alternate could work last year, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a few come into the fold when Adidas adds alternate looks
- I've been staring at the name and number font the whole time I've been writing this review, a perfect match for these sharp new logos
The Bad:
- I'm a fan of the Adidas half collar, however only when the front half matches the yoke coloring
- Wish the chest stripe would make it all the way to the side stitching before cutting off, a la Florida Panthers
- As well as this alternate works with the adoption of the "Los Tiburones" look, I can't say it meshes too well with their current identity
The Ugly (Execution Issues):
- Chest stripe faces some sizable pixelation issues, especially noticable in contrast to the sharp logo on top of it
- No concept is complete without the equipment surrounding it
Overall Rating: 7.0/10
A look I really like. But one I feel the Sharks need to grow into before it can serve as an effective alternate.
Rather than making two COTW nominations in two days, I thought I'd leave this one up to you guys. So get out there and let your voice be heard!
Got questions? Leave them for us in the all-new HJC Mailbag.

Brooks F's Utica Comets concept for the COTW.
Jesper for COTW
Looks like the link I sent on Facebook for the 2018 US Olympic jerseys no longer works. Was interested in seeing what the opinions were on them. Personally I really liked the Royal Blue alternate. I'm guessing the white that wasn't shown will be very similar to the navy one
Second Brooks for COTW. That Utica set is niiiiice
