Story: Sabres Add Some O / #VegasStrong On Boards

Last night the Buffalo Sabres lost 6-2 to the New Jersey Devils. But of course the biggest story here at HJC coming out of that game was Kyle Okposo's name being misspelled on the back of his sweater. O-K-O-P-O-S-O

This may be a common mistake online and you may also see this mistake on someone who had their jersey numbered at an unlicensed vendor. However this isn't necessarily accepted on the back of the actual player while he is on the ice doing his actual job! So if you do get your jersey misspelled like this it's no longer a jersey foul as it actually happened in a regular season NHL game.

#VegasStrong

The Vegas Golden Knights and their sponsors will show their support for the city of Las Vegas tonight during their home opener. The boards will not be lined with the usual ads, instead the #VegasStrong hashtag and logo will wrap around the rink.
This is a huge commitment by both the team and the sponsors as those companies pay a lot of money to get their logos posted on there, especially the side that faces the main stationary cameras.

I also heard that Vegas will be donating their half of every 50/50 lottery raffle held at each game to a charity helping victims of the shooting. Someone else told me every NHL team that holds 50/50 lottery raffles will donate their halfs to both hurricane relief funds and relief for the Vegas shooting. I couldn't verify that other teams are donating as well but I was with Vegas. Great to see these lotteries going towards something good other than just profit! Plus Vegas will wear a "Vegas Strong" silver heart on their helmets for the entire season, classy move.

A great tribute to your city, Vegas. Too bad the massacre happened a week ago.

@FC, you do realize that this is their home opener, right? As in the first possible opportunity to do something like this. Personally, I think it's a great way to show support for your city, especially for such a new team. I commend them for choosing to honor the victims and their families instead of focusing on advertising revenue.
