News: Devils Reveal New Alternate Jersey
With a minor news story currently unfolding in the US legal system, the real big-ticket news item of the day is, or course, New Jersey's unveiling of their alternate jersey for the upcoming season. The Devils are throwing back to the 80's, bringing back Garden State green in what they've officially named their "Heritage Jersey." Here it is, steeped in tradition:

This design is practically copied from the team's inaugural white jersey, worn from the Devils' inception in 1982 until the end of the 1992 season.

Aside from a few tweaks to the proportions of the stripes, There's hardly anything of note in this "new" design. This is in line with the much wider NHL trend this offseason of plucking former looks out of history for use as thirds. This follows Arizona (direct throwback), Anaheim (fauxback heavily based on their inaugural look), and Columbus (unofficially confirmed to return their previous third).
New Jersey had been slow to bring in the tradition into a full time jersey, this being their first, true third jersey in team history. The Devils have flirted with this era for St. Patrick's Day festivities, but we've never seen an actual rotation of jerseys (New Jersey has confirmed on Twitter these jerseys will be worn four times at home this season).
What I'm most surprised by this look isn't the design. As stated above, this appears to be the norm for Adidas thirds. It's the fact that the Devils will be wearing white at home. This isn't unprecedented, the Red Wings will occasionally break out their white jersey at home, for example. But it's certainly unusual that an NHL team would make a dedicated jersey for use at home in the color designated for visiting teams.
Here are some initial thoughts from the HJC writing staff:
"It’s nice to see a classic jersey as an alternate work well with the Adidas collar." -Steve M.
" *heart emoji* Those are gorgeous." -Jets96
