Wednesday: All Over The Place
Welcome to another Wednesday Post here at HJC. Not a lot of news that hasn't already been talked about here, but let me just say that the Newfoundland Growlers jerseys leave a lot to be desired. Aside from the striping inconsistency, the phantom yoke on the white jersey makes no sense. Same with the Newfoundland script on the black. Still working on Islanders news with their jersey so stay tuned for that.

ON TO THE CONCEPTS!
Brendan P: Boston Bruins Comic Sans Logo Concept
Again, no rating here as it isn't really much of a concept, but rather something fun and comical (pun totally intended). As bold as the Spoked-B logo is, replacing it with a comic sans letter B definitely decreases the power it has within the logo. Part of the point of the series
Burkus Circus: Baltimore Brigade (AFL) Concept
It's a shame the Arena Football League is so much of a farce that the 2-10 Washington Valor ended up winning the Arena Bowl title. I remember going to New York Dragons games at the Coliseum as a kid. Here the Brigade use a nice double blue color scheme, with silver trim used in the logo to embolden the B. With a team name like Brigade, the number font makes sense, though not necessarily as colored. Two outlines would help, on each set, with the blue jersey using white numbers outlined in navy and silver, while the lighter blue outline could use silver to separate it from the navy numbers. Otherwise a good look. Clever what you did for the Adidas collar inset.
Rating: 83%
Justin R: Gorky Stags Concept
In Soviet Russia, jersey concept make you! But anyway, an old looking concept for a fictional Soviet league for a team in present day Nizhny Novgorod, where Torpedo currently plays in the KHL. Jerseys where half the set is fitting for the University of Minnesota, a good look by itself. Personally, I like that the patterns match but I'm not thrilled about the colors not matching. The design itself passes for 1978 though with the Russian Script logo and the front numbers.

Noah B: Toronto Maple Leafs Concept
If there's any way to make a dynamic, yet classic looking pattern with a two-color scheme, this is the way to do it. It takes a page out of the classic Leafs arm striping we see today, while giving it part of the trim we saw from the classic socks that the Leafs used before their 2016 rebrand. The logo also takes another page from Leafs design history by using the T from the Toronto Arenas era and placing it in the current Leafs logo in the space left abdicated by the Toronto Maple Leafs script. Whats even more clever is how the sock striping is so similar to the arms yet slightly different. That's how dynamic it is. Credit to you for not putting Pajama Boy John Tavares on the back.
Rating: 95%
