Thursday: Bpoe's Outro
Since I started my HJC writing career with a Kendrick Lamar reference, I figured I'd might as well end on one too. I'll talk more on that at the end of the post.
Hello everyone, and welcome back to another Thursday post! A lot of you guys saw the new look of the blog yesterday, and if you didn't, you see it now. I hope you guys like it, because I know I do, though I may be biased here just like Phil. Keep in mind we're still ironing out a few things with the new look and layout, so don't be surprised to see some minor changes over the next week or so.
------------
This week is a simple one in voting: only the COTW vote. We do still have the AIHL competition going on though, and it will be until next Friday, so keep working on those entries!
(No new entries have come in for the AIHL comp. since yesterday's post)
------------
Alan H. - LA Kings
+While I'm not a fan at all of the Kings' grayscale look, you do a good job of building a jersey around it.
+Glad to see the return of the solo crown logo and the LA shoulder patch.
+I like the way you executed the arm piping. It's a good mix of their current look combined with this design.
+I normally don't like striping that cuts off midway through a jersey, but I think it works here.
-I think the road jersey could use a bit more black to balance the colors.
-This is purely personal, but I love a colorful jersey, so adding some color to this set would make it that much better.
Overall: 8.5/10 and my COTW Nomination
Jets96 - Edmonton Oilers
+While I wouldn't like to see this happen full time for the Oilers, bringing back copper is always an intriguing idea.
+When it comes to realism, sticking with the Oilers' classic striping was a good move.
-Sticking so closely to the Oilers' brand like that does come with the cost of a bit less creativity in this design. It's nothing groundbreaking by any means.
-The reversed logo on the dark jersey is interesting for sure. I'm personally not a fan, though I'm sure you can find people who disagree with me.
+I like the idea you have behind the copper alt.
-Again, not very creative though, and the middle blue stripe also vibrates with the copper.
Overall: 7/10
Justin B. - New York Islanders
+Do you really have an Islanders concept if there isn't a 4 stripe reference somewhere? It's not really a bad thing, though, it could be a good brand to build on. The only issue is if they win another cup at some point, but that's a discussion for another time.
+I like the use of the solo NY logo as the primary.
+Good color balance throughout the set.
-I personally would like to see a bit more orange used, though.
+Having 4 small stripes on each shoulder would have been way too busy if you had a shoulder patch, so I think omitting it was the right move.
-Unless this was a conscious design choice, the pants should have a logo on it.
Overall: 7.75/10
------------
So, as you probably picked up from above, this is my last post as a full-time HJC writer. It was really tough to quit, because I love writing here, but my time constraints now in college just don't work out with writing here full-time. It doesn't help that this semester seems really packed with work compared to some of my peers, but I digress.
I say that this is my last post writing "full-time" because Ryan has been kind enough to leave my permissions on as a writer, so I'll be able to report on news, write an article, or fill in a post, so you'll likely still see me around posting every once in a while. And don't worry, I'm still going to be a part of the team creating some other content for HJC. You'll find out what I mean in due time.
I'd like to thank Ryan for the opportunity to write here in the first place, all the other writers that I've worked with for their work and any possible help with my own posts, and all of you readers, for keeping this site running with the work you send in.
As always, I hope you enjoyed the post, thanks for reading, and I'll see you all around.

This new look has to go the way of Fishsticks, Burger King, and the Turd-Burger - gone before the end of the year. Preferably sooner. As in tomorrow.
Well done, BPoe. It has been a pleasure working with you, and I'm glad you'll still be around.
I have to agree with Burkus Circus.
