Thursday: A Trip Abroad
Hello and welcome to another Thursday post here on HockeyJerseyConcepts.com
This week's news follows last week's to the letter...
We'd like YOU to join the team. HJC is looking for a social media administrator to help expand the brand after of our recent refresh. So if you love all things Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and you'd love to join our band of lovable hockey misfits follow that banner at the top of the page or this link and shoot us a 100-200 word blurb with what you'd bring to the table.
In addition, we now have a (somewhat) limited quantity of HJC stickers available for purchase. Follow the second link of the day and cover your laptops, cars, even your friends with our new and improved logo!

_____________________________________________________________________________
Brooks F.- Team Africa
The Good:
- Color balance is really solid across both jerseys
- I've always been a fan of jerseys that use the exact same striping pattern to create 2 different looks
- Props for creating your own logos, really like the Continents Cup one...
- ...But the Africa one doesn't do anything for me. Could just as easily be an Anaheim logo
- Extended yoke on the away doesn't do it for me either
- Not a fan of the red helmet and I wish the pants would have a white stripe to match
The Ugly (Execution Issues):
- Under-armor logo looks large on the back
Well executed and a look I'm sure many will like, but I just can't say I'm on board.
The Good:
- Logo inspired striping is a nice touch and the full yoke would be a worthwhile departure from recent history
- Keeping Canada away from black is always appreciated...
The Bad:
- ...though I'm not sure gold is the right replacement
- Dark jersey begs for more white, especially around that logo
Overall Rating: 6.0/10
A Meh Dark Look for the Great White North.
Vaughn R.- Lloydminster Bobcats
The Good:
- Alternate gives the Bobcats a unique striping pattern against a full-length yoke and is a perfect use of an orange-white-black pallet
- Although the main set creates a new look with the word mark in the chest stripe, but it leaves the rest of the uniform extremely bare
- Not sure if the #OB being vertically off-centered on the stripe is a design choice or an execution error, but either way it doesn't work
- #OB needs also needs a thicker outline to stand out from that chest stripe
- Pant stripes should really match those on the dark jersey, no reason for the inconsistency shown
The Ugly (Execution Issues):
- As I said last week, the UA logo is quite large on the front and back of each jersey
- On the other hand, the primary on the alt is quite small
A concept that takes a traditional look and tries (in my mind, unsuccessfully) to make it modern.
Vaughn R.- Oktoks Oilers
Vaughn R.- Oktoks Oilers
The Good:
- Each of the three looks highlights the unique color pallet of the Oilers
- The arm stripes are really low on the main set (most of it would be hidden by the gloves)
- Speaking of the main set, there is no reason to have inconsistent striping widths
- Black yoke on the light jersey really works against the color balance
- Dark jersey could use some light (both of the other jerseys employ the full color set, so why not here as well?)
The Ugly (Execution Issues):
- Same execution errors of the previous concept, including the small alternate logo
What we see here is something we see often when a full series is submitted. Take your time and make sure each design is completely thought out and double checked before sending it in. We both know you're a better designer than what was shown today. How about we show that to that world instead?
All in all, nothing stuck out to me today. Did I miss something? Did one of these concepts blow you away. Let us know in the comments and feel free to drop a COTW Nomination of you own to make up for me forgoing mine.
