Monday: First of the Islanders Entries
Welcome to another Monday post!
Voting for this week has both the normal COTW weekly vote, featuring 6 of last weeks best concepts, along with the 5 COTW winners from October in the COTY October vote, the first of the final quarter vote of 2017. Votes as usual are due Friday @ Noon EST.
We're hosting another HJC Redesign. Simple enough! This time, we're redesigning the New York Islanders. Click on the banner on the side of the blog or the contest section of the menu to read all the rules. Entries are not due until November 24th, so you have plenty of time to work on your entry!
Let's check out some of the early entries that have come in so far:
John E.
Jesper W.
Lucas D.
Nice stuff! Keep working on your entries and have them ready for not this Friday, but the Friday after!
On with today's concepts
+ I really like the similarities to the Sharks original jerseys in the home and road despite the pattern being quite different, particularly on the white jersey
+ Grey alternate looks excellent, like a better version of what Worcester attempted a while ago
+ Great logo choices all around, especially bringing back the Northern California patch
+ Great exectuion
- NOB is a little small on all 3 jerseys and hard to read on the grey jersey
- Ditto for the tv numbers
- The home's striping does have that Chicago Blackhawks away style colour arrangement, and while it's not at the point I'd call it distracting, the way the colours are arranged on the away is much better
Rating: 8.75/10 COTW Nom from me!
Ottawa Senators Concept (By: Joe D.)
+ Great Execution
- The actual Giants wear a darker shade of orange than this, and I think that shade would look slightly better
- Numbers and logo could use a black outline
Rating: 8.5/10

Ottawa Senators Concept (By: Joe D.)
+ Excellent font choice and logos
+ Love all the red and black with the gold in the striping, without using the usual Sens laurels
+ Good execution
- The black on the helmet is a different shade from the rest of the jersey
- Primary logo is a little small
- Numbers on the back are too spaced out
Rating: 7.5/10
GWS Giants Aussie Rules Football Crossover Concepts (By: Noah B.)
+ While the actual Giants wear a half orange half black jersey, this fits very nicely as a hockey jersey, but you can see the inspiration
+ Fantastic colour balancing
+ The font you've chosen for the back matches the logo really nicely
