Thursday: Hurricane Bernie
It's Thursday, my dudes. Of course, this means we're just 24 hours away from a new set of Jersey Casual designs. Steve has put a lot of work into each and everyone of these, so be sure to check them out and maybe pick one up at their new LOW LOW PRICES.
Also, be sure to sport your jersey design pride by purchasing a HJC sticker for your aunts, uncles, pets, friends' pets, and pet's friends.
Don't forget the COTW and LA Kings comp vote, both of which end tomorrow.

Adam G.- Colorado Avalanche
The Good:
- Certainly a unique look, which is always nice on an alternate
- Black numbers contrast against the rest of the jersey well and the font fits with the them of the design
The Bad:
- Gradients very rarely look good on hockey jerseys and the one here is hampered by the fact that much of the darker section on the arms would be covered up by the gloves anyway, leaving the arms noticeably bare
- Mountain range hem is a nice idea, but the detail wouldn't transfer at viewing distance
- Maroon really pulls the Av's scheme together and its sorely missing (outside of the logo) here
The Ugly (Execution Issues):
- Chest logo is quite low
- Helmet logo should be rotated back slightly to match the angle of the helmet
Overall Rating: 6.0/10
A unique look for the Av's, but one that would look quite bare from a distance.
Cole W.- Lethbridge Hurricanes
The Good:
- Removing a team from a templated jersey (in this case the Capitals edge template) is always a good idea
- Blue equipment balances the two primary colors nicely
The Bad:
- Blue NOB and #OB could pose an issue at viewing distance
- Pants beg for some striping
The Ugly (Execution Issues):
- Helmet logos are too large
- Actual concept only covers about have of your presentation. While the ideas behind your designs are nice to see, they should not be help at equal importance as the concept, itself
Overall Rating: 7.25/10
Overall a solid look, but one that doesn't push the necessary boundaries to leave a lasting impact.
The Good:
- As nice as the Av's current logo is, its a bit dated and a push of the Colorado state identity would be a great direction to take
- Extending the cuff striping further up the arms works well to ensure the dark jersey isn't too dark and the light isn't too light.
- We often see elements that really push a concept to the top if its class, but maybe shouldn't actually be implemented. The yoke on this concept does that for me, and I absolutely love it in this concept...
The Bad:
- ...Would like to see the maroon and silver stripes carry over to the back of the yoke though
- Grey and white don't contrast enough against one another. I'd swap the maroon and silver on the yoke, striping, and numbers of the road look to allay that issue.
Overall Rating: 9.0/10
Wonderfully unique look for the Av's (at least in concept land). Fix that grey-on-white issue and we're looking at a concept in the 9.5-10.0 range.
This week I extend my COTW Nomination to Noah' Avalanche Concept.
What do you think? Did I pick the best Avs Concept? Was the Hurricanes look even better? Let us know in the comments.
